As someone else said, I had a Canon MX700 printer that I loved and lasted for many years. When it finally died in March, I bought a MX722 on 6-March thinking it was basically the same printer. Wrong! This printer is a dud. It died in six weeks (26-April, lasted 51 days). It used lots of ink (two cartridges in the first month), and I don't print much and no photos, Paper jammed if the paper hit anything during printing and that required you to dismantle the feed mechanism to clear the jam. It said in the manual if you accidentally rip the paper in the machine you have to send it in for service. I was sweating bullets taking out that one jam. It got to the point that everyone in my family would scream to open the built-in cabinet printer door whenever they heard the printer make noise. It took forever to warm up. It stopped to clean after printing, so you couldn't print two jobs back-to-back (the second job waited for the very long and noisy clean). It was very noisy (clanked and banged). Network was extremely difficult to setup wirelessly. I ended up using it with a cable. No positives.

I love the way this prints documents and photos. It was easy to set up. However, if I want to print from my phone, my computer or my tablet I have to go through the process of syncing every time I use a different device--- I do not like that part.

I've owned four brands of inkjet printers, but I'm with Canon now and there is enough about them that I'm not going to move. I can go all day without a mis-feed; I can print both sides of a stack of paper while I go out for coffee; I will always get a good print. I do booklets galore; they all come out nice. My page count is 14,000 pages/year hassle-free. I use this model's auto sheet feeder to copy in several pages of crumpled-up, folded handwriting into Word with two clicks and it handles them perfectly. I mainly do office functions, not pictures, but this Canon has gone the country mile with features to handle graphics. I'm not sure why you would buy anything else, especially at this price.

Had a Canon printer that we loved and from which we got many years of happy use. Heard negative things about changes Canon made to their printers, but wanted to give them another chance. However, this printer is a dud. Uses lots of ink, paper doesn't feed properly, and takes forever to warm up. Also very noisy. No positives.

By far the worst printer I have ever owned. I work in IT so I have been around many printers in my career. I have never owned, or seen, a printer which has to be rebooted almost on a daily basis. Half the time it looses connectivity to the WIFI, and i need to reboot it, the other half the time i need to reprogram it to recognize the WIFI. Its noisy, it slow, it humms, and whirls and does nothing, Its a very poor example of what printers should be. I encourage you NOT to buy this.

My last Pixma died after 5 years. Sadly the print head was just as expensive as a new printer at this point.

I love the convenience of networked scanning and printing. Print quality is great and duplex scanning and printing makes my work life so much easier in a work-from-home role.

OK so I have had it for two days now but writing the review early because I think people buying the wrong printers. I will make updates every three months because I think this is one hell of a deal. Anyway I am an IT guy and I love a good bargain and this to me is a better buy than ANY LOWER MODEL AND HIGHER. I mean just look up the specs the lower models print at half the resolution and uses old two ink system plus it misses a bunch of other features. Now the real question is how does it stack up against the MX922 and so far I have to say they are the same printer even canon sales told me they are just MX722 has 2.5 LCD instead of 3 and doesn't have option to print on DVD but I believe you can just buy the tray. (Maybe) Do you really think canon made a different printer its just the MX722 was sold more outside of usa. Anyway 60 bucks brand new for this printer and a year warranty canon just sends you a new one can't be beat.

Anyway my review for now will be short just because in a few months I want to update it. And for the simple fact no other printer at this price comes close to all these features. I do hate the fact its so cheap because it it breaks AFTER warranty probably will have the same model for cheaper. And also I must say I don't buy printers to buy canon ink sorry not spending more 10 bucks for ink its freaking ink. The only downside is canon has this great program called image class and it only works with canon ink going to try to fool it if I can but either way you can live without it. Soccor moms and grandmas will love it as it has so many templates but most people are not good with computers and don't use the minor stuff. Anyway there are some really cheap places to find ink if you look and very good quality.

I recently bought a Chromebook which I love. I needed a Google Cloud ready printer so I did some research, talked with pre-sales reps and techs and subsequently bought two different and consecutive printers. Both were not as compatible with the Chromebook as promoted. I exhausted further research. Canon was listed as having a Google Cloud Ready printer so I called Canon pre-sales to discuss the specifics of Chromebook and my past experiences with the other two printers. (I spoke with a Canon tech.) I asked for his recommedation of a Canon printer that was truly compatible with Chromebook; one which supported Chromebook. The PIXMA MX722 was one of two printers recommended. Big mistake! Compared to other printers, Canon's printer is slow and loud. Instead of a SD Card slot it has a USB port; which meant I would have to invest in a converter. I couldn't scan and edit multiple pictures at a time as I had with one of the other printers. Moreover in order to use the Canon printer efficiently it was suggested that I switch the Chromebook to the "Beta" channel from the computer's default channel, "Stable". BIG MISTAKE! My documets and pics were thrown into a funk; it was a time consumming nightmare in order to rectify the situation. I reverted back to the default channel on my Chromebook and subsequently did a factory reset! Regarding the PIXMA MX 722, the print quality is great and it has a great top feed for scanning documents. That said, this is not the printer for me.
