Purchased this printer almost 2 years ago to replace my old, well-liked Canon iP5000, that I purchased in 2004. That one printed great looking photos, didn't use much ink, had a small footprint, and lasted 7 years. This one doesn't print great looking photos (washed out look, blue-tinge without custom settings for each print job), uses a LOT of ink with its automated cleaning, has a big footprint with the lower print tray sticking out the front, and lasted less than 2 years. Okay, technically, it's still usable, but it won't feed from the default front print tray, only the back, and you need to tell it that every print job. I'm sure the feed mechanism from the rear tray will fail any day now, given the cheap construction of this printer.

Quite frankly, this printer has been a pain, and has more than eliminated all the goodwill toward Canon printers that my old printer generated. I'm in the market for a new printer, and I am not looking at Canon.

These things are a steal and now they are gone. I do photobooths and use 3 Canon printers at a time and I wish i had bought 2 more of these before Canon switched to the MX series. They print fast on 4x6 and are durable, they get beat on let me tell you. My 4500 and 4700 are pretty tired. This 4920 is smooth.

Best printer I've ever used, pictures are beautiful , does seem to use a lot of ink but that's ok,the quality of the pics make up for that.

I went to Frys Electronics to see the demonstration for this printer and was very impressed. I was previously an Epson printer fan but this all in one was a great buy. The printing functions are on par with the Epsons I previously owned, the scanned replaced the Epson I owned and the copier function was good too. The Wi-Fi connection was also great and handy with my Ipad. The print quailty for photos weren't as billiant as the Epson but close enough to justify the switch.

Used in place of a color laser for jobs that require thicker material and for those that do not need the high volume prints.

Today is December 5, 2013. I ordered this Canon Pixma ip4920 printer--new--on July 2nd, 2013. Today, one of the black ink nozzles clogged, and repeated "cleanings" have done nothing to unclog it.

I should mention that we have an iP1600 that I bought, refurbished, in 2008. Indeed, I bought this printer because of the high quality of the iP1600. That printer still works very well, even after months of not being on... though, unfortunately, it doesn't have drivers to work with Windows 7. If it did, I'd be using it instead of trying to find a replacement for this (far too expensive) piece of junk.

If you're looking for a good printer, this one is--until it isn't. And it isn't far too soon.

Great printer for printing pictures and printing on printable dvd's and cd's. There is a learning curve, because it does so many different things.

It got worse and then quit. To be fair I used it rarely so I guess the ink dried out. It never was that great with color pictures. I finally found a good used affordable laser printer. I am tired of inkjet ink prices and they just do not last for me.

The problem I experience is that the cannon printer uses the ink much faster than my previous printer. Otherwise it is very good.
