5.0 out of 5 stars A great historical picture on the growth of Opus Dei as an institution in the Catholic Church, September 29, 2010

This review is from: The Canonical Path of Opus Dei. (Hardcover)
This book provides an in-depth and insightful discussion of the juridical path of Opus Dei (now a Personal Prelature of the Catholic Church), starting from the moment when St. Josemaria Escriva received this particular mission from God on October 2, 1928 and culminating in its definitive transformation as a personal prelature by John Paul II in November 28, 1982.

This is perhaps the first and, so far, the only book that discusses Opus Dei from the standpoint of ecclesiastical law. It explains the essential features of the institution and the ones that had the most emphasis at every milestone along the way. The discussion is very integrated that one can read throughout the entire book without feeling that there is some sort of disconnect at every juridical stage of Opus Dei. How St. Josemaria Escriva envisioned Opus Dei in 1928 has been the same and safeguarded by a definitive papal act in 1982.

The book also provides a comprehensive appendix which includes all of the essential documents during the juridical itinerary of Opus Dei, including the complete Statutes of Opus Dei as approved in 1982.
