Book Description

April 2004
A radical reinterpretation of the myth of Osiris and Isis. Humankind has misidentified the constellation Orion with the Egyptian god Osiris in Egyptian mythology. Rather, it is the star Canopus that is linked with Osiris, as identified by both ancient writers and early 20th century scholars. Canopus, for Egypt the South polar star, is the second-brightest star and interplays with Sirius in such a way that ancient accounts surmised that the two stars controlled time. It was the navigators star, allowing access to the afterlife û the domain of Osiris. Canopus was specifically identified with Osirus' Ark, where he was transformed from mere mortal to resurrected supergod. Canopus was therefore literally a stargate, where men could communicate with and aspire to become gods - and enter into other dimensions. This book will reveal what the Egyptians actually believed about

* what happened to the soul after death

* how they coded this knowledge into their mythology

* how ancient accounts and modern physics use the same symbolism to describe the structure of the universe, the playground of the Egyptian gods and the souls of the deceased

* ...and how the Canopus myth is linked to the Grail legend and to alchemy, revealed here for the first time

5.0 out of 5 stars Discusses matters of the soul and hidden knowledge, October 6, 2004
This review is from: The Canopus Revelation: The Stargate of the Gods and the Ark of Osiris (Paperback)
The Canopus Revelation: Stargate of the Gods and the Ark of Osiris is a radical, metaphysical treatise upon the link between the navigational star Canopus (the south polar star of Egypt, and the second brightest star in the Sky), and access to the afterlife domain of Osiris - or perhaps a transition point allowing mortals to communicate with gods and transcend dimensions. Branching from science, history, and mythology into mystical theory, The Canopus Revelation discusses matters of the soul and hidden knowledge on the brink of rediscovery in simple, serious terms that make for an exciting and wondrous exploration of that which seems impossible. A transcendental attempt to piece together clues of an ancient puzzle to expose mysteries that defy the imagination.

4.0 out of 5 stars Another idea of star meanings, November 24, 2011

This review is from: The Canopus Revelation: The Stargate of the Gods and the Ark of Osiris (Paperback)
Philip Coppens has been shown in numerous Ancient Alien episodes, but his books seem to be missing from the review section. I will admit I had never heard of him until I saw AA, and got a few of his books for my library. I am very glad I did as Mr Coppens adds a great touch to the many mysteries out there.

The star Canopus does get a lot of mention in ancient Egypt and also is significant in other cultures. Many monuments are aligned to Canopus, and Mr Coppens sets out to find the answers to many questions. The book Canopus details much of the research into ancient writings and also goes into some other mysterious areas like the Knights Templar and King Arthur.

The star Canopus itself is very mysterious as it is 20,000 times brighter than our Sun. Canopus also is the symbol for gold and lead, which makes it important to alchemists. Mr Coppens goes through many aspects of alchemy and finds Canopus as part of those mysteries. He also takes a few swipes at Robert Temple's The Sirius Mystery stating there were a few major errors in the book and Mr Temple should of meant Canopus. I have read Sirius and it is much more complex than what Mr Coppens is giving it credit for. He seems to ignore the mention of Sirius C and a planet orbiting around it, but that is another matter of debate. I do think both men are correct in many ways and they should work together to find answers.

I agree with Mr Coppens on the importance of Canopus and Sirius, and I do think he is right that Canopus could of been used as a focal point for a stargate here on Earth. I also think Sirius C (a red dwarf) could be the home of the Nommo, and they may have unlocked the secrets of stargate use.

The basic idea is that the peoples of antiquity used Canopus as a source for communication and possible travel. They knew that the soul went on a journey and Canopus played a major part.

The book Canopus is a short read as it is less than 200 pages, but it contains a lot of information in it. Mr Coppens is an excellent writer who conveys the ideas very well. Some authors in these subjects tend to be dry, but Mr Coppens kept my attention throughout the night as I read this book. Highly recommended for people interested in the star Canopus and the ideas of other authors.
