5.0 out of 5 stars Enlightening and Fun to read!! :), April 9, 2008
This review is from: Why Can't You Communicate Like Me? How Smart Women Get Results At Work (Paperback)
I was so excited about this book that I immediately called my friends and family!! :) I felt as if one section had been written entirely about me.

I couldn't understand how anyone could possibly be less than delighted with working with someone fast, friendly, and happy. Since reading this book, my interaction with co-workers has not been instantly easy, but is much easier to understand and improve where needed. Before I wasn't even aware there was a potential disconnect, and if there WAS one, it most certainly couldn't be in any way my fault.

My favorite thing about this book is that each section is written to be digestable to that personality type, so you have an example to work from. It also is helpful that the book gives you specific tips for each type you are likely to struggle with the most. I've used this and have already seen improvements and opportunities on the job as a result.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great resource, June 26, 2006
This review is from: Why Can't You Communicate Like Me? How Smart Women Get Results At Work (Paperback)
The premise of this fun book is that there are four basic types of communication styles used by women, and that the key to getting along with other people lies in using this knowledge to modify your own methods of interaction. The idea is not to stereotype women, but to help us to understand one another better. For example, some women prefer brainstorming ideas in a group while others like to put their thoughts down in writing before talking to anyone else about them. A manager can more effectively organize her direct reports by taking these key personality traits into account.

As a writer, I found this book to be a great resource for helping me to develop my female characters.

This review is from: Why Can't You Communicate Like Me? How Smart Women Get Results At Work (Paperback)
Why Can't You Communicate Like Me? How Smart Women Get Results at Work is not rocket science. What it is is a funky but simple way to understand why you have problems communicating with various people. Some think the book is common sense, but I believe it is common sense that we don't think about until Browne succinctly points it out and reminds us of how each of us communicate. I love this book and use it in the corporate communication and women in management classes I teach at a university.
