Alright, we know that White is a master vocalist, arranger, and lyricist. But, what other pop/R&B artist in the twentieth century played a harpsichord with such passion? Don't know the instrument? Then, listen carefully to the magnificent "I Can't Believe You Love Me!" Man, this is the BOMB, a perfect blend of orchestration and vocal interpretation! Hit the REPEAT function and enjoy!

Classic '70s Soul!,

My Mother has had this album since 1974, the year it was first released. I am so thrilled to see it available on CD now! Each song is excellent. Both "Mellow Mood" pts 1 and 2 are superb. Part 1 begins the album, while part 2 brings it to a close. They are perfect to begin and end this album. Barry really knew how to compose music, and this album is a testimony of that. I've loved these songs since childhood, and I still love them today. If you like Barry White and/or really good music, BUY THIS ONE!

I first purchased this recording back in high school on vinyl when Maestro White was coming into his stride with his melodic stirrings..Now that he has passed his music is even more beautiful with its smooth vocals and flowing instrumentals..My favourite track on this disc is I Can't Believe You Love Me - it is soooo sensuous..I spent this past weekend listening to his music over and over. And even though the man has gone to a greater place, his music and the moods he created will live on in the hearts of his fans forever.....

I remember my DAD having the original 33 which was fun to listen to so naturally this CD is special. However, Barry White is one of those artists whose songs sound a bit alike after a while. So you can buy a GREATEST HITS collection and leave it at that. I bought this one for two reasons: MELLOW MOOD Pt. 1 and the introduction on YOU'RE THE FIRST, LAST, EVERYTHING cause that intro was left off on the GREATEST HITS CD. If you're a long time serious White fan, get this album. Otherwise, a GREATEST HITS album will suffice.

This album is good trhoughout. Just quality. But what puts the record over the top and inclined me to give it five stars is what I consider one of my absolute favorite songs of all-time: "I Can't Believe You Love Me". I won't waste time trying to descrieb it in words. Go listen. My Lord.

Barry's first two albums would've made his name had they been all he recorded. But that turned out to only be the beginning as White decided to really mix things up for his third time out. This is roughly around the time he launched Love Unlimited Orchestra who began recording spinoff albums often in tandem with his own. On the title song and "You're The First,My Last My Everything" Barry recorded the two most uptempo tracks he ever recorded and both cuts, right along with Philly's Gamble & Huff and Thom Bell were early echoes of the dancable, orchestrated funk sound that would become THE thing during the upcoming disco era. These songs are also under five minutes, two of the shorter tunes Barry had done and rely heavy on pop hooks and song structure and neither lost any of his signiture sound along the way. Even though he's known more as a singer and arranger these songs in particular his unique way with th harpsicord,an instrument that would become a new signiture for many of his mid 70's hit records. "I Can't Believe You Love Me" is a ten minute funk seduction symphony and really the only song here that takes a cue from the technique of his two first albums. On "Oh Love,Well We Finally Made It" and "I Love You More Than Anything In This World Girl" both go for kind of pocket symphonies:songs that both have a cinamatic soul flavor but more brief in lengh. I heard a review once on this album that while four minutes in terms of seduction may be long enough in reality it should last longer on record. Either way it doesn't matter. On this album Barry has a way of making his music slinky, funky and seductive even at shorter lenghs. The album is bordered by two brief orchestral instrumentals "Mellow Mood" parts 1 & 2. By bookending the album in this way he kind of gave the album the flavor of a long suite even though it consists largely of shorter songs. This set the tone for what Barry would do in the studio for the next few years and stands as both one of his strongest and popular albums.
