Joe Girard was certainly a great car salesman in the 70's which is admirable. His CD re covers a lot of the basics that so many have before and that's really it. This would be a good CD to listen to a few times if you are starting out in sales. If you really want to work on your attitude you should just listen to Earl Nightengal or Zig Ziglar. For sales coaching this can't touch anything Jeffrey Gitomer puts out and Gitomer goes much deeper into tips and tactics.

Joe Girard bills himself as the worlds greatest salesman and he is in the Guiness Book. His record for CAR sales is still untouched, but I doubt this record stands up to any criteria broader than that. I found it to be fairly unsophisticated and Joe's grammer is weak in many places.

Make it one of the many sales books you read or listen to, but don't make it the only....or even the first.

The biggest thing I got out of this Book on CD, was his personal life story. I was disappointed, I thought I was going to get more from him. but he did offer some good pointers.
Such as,
* Whatever you're selling is it good enough to put your name on the bottom?
* Salesman gotta remind that he is still there, with mail. He went on to explain about his mailing system.
* The greatest advertising in the world is the word of mouth. Take a great care of your customers.
* Make it stick when you close the sale: Ask her why she bought it from you instead of from other dealers/sellers she visited. This will let her tell you all the good stuff about you, and the bad stuff about other dealers.
He also mentioned that you must feel good about yourself, you must be prepared emotionally. becasue they will react to your face. So you must believe, your face will show you if you believe or not. well thats how the books goes.
CASE AGAINST:
He doesn't present a lot of information, its short. Maybe his books would sell better if he offered more information.
----> "Solution Selling" would be a much better book to read

It is simple. If you listen to this CD DAILY! you will win. Joe Girard has done the unthinkable in automotive sales and he takes you step by step through his process. If you listen to this CD and more importantly, take action on these steps you will sell more of whatever you sell. Joe delivers his message in a very laid back, factual style. There are no cliches or BS phrases us salespeople have been force fed, it is just pure and simple information you can use. I listen to each CD daily and it has greatly increased my volume and gross. Buy this...now.
