Yet countless thousands will die needlessly from this disease!
Why?
Leon Prochnik's YOU CAN'T MAKE LOVE IF YOU'RE DEAD explores men's fear of dealing with this uniquely male disease. The male dread of potential impotence and the difficulty in sharing that fear with others.

A great book for women too!!,
By Janice Weaver Rex (Bath, NY United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: You Can't Make Love If You're Dead : Curing Prostate Cancer and Keeping My Sexuality (Paperback)
I found myself deeply touched by Leon Prochnik's gutsy, from-the-heart account of his encounter with prostate cancer. In sharing how this much-feared disease affected not only himself but his wonderful wife, Mia, Leon gives the reader the highs, lows, and everything-in-between that occured on this journey. And a great surprise - Leon's narrative is laced with a wonderful sense of humor -something you almost never find in books about cancer. My husband and I drew strength and inspiration from every chapter. And to discover that there is a way for men not only to keep but enhance their sexuality after prostate cancer, wow! If you're a woman who loves her husband, father, brother, son, read this book! And get them to read it too!

INFORMATIVE, ENTERTAINING AND MOST OF ALL TOUCHING,
By AGP "Florida Beach Boy" (Fort Lauderdale, FL USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: You Can't Make Love If You're Dead : Curing Prostate Cancer and Keeping My Sexuality (Paperback)
I must say I approached this book with trepidation considering the subject matter, but within a few pages, I was drawn into this man's compelling story. His journey from the point of discovery through the aftermath of his surgical procedure is highly informative(every alternative is considered), clearly presented yet highly charged(one can imagine the highs and lows one goes through), and most of all you come to know and feel every heartfelt emotion he and his wife faced as a couple. All I can say is, for anyone facing prostrate cancer, whether you be single, married or otherwise, this book is a must read. You will be far the better for it.

A MOVING BOOK ABOUT TRIUMPHING OVER PROSTATE CANCER,
By Tania Konishi (London, England) - See all my reviews
This review is from: You Can't Make Love If You're Dead : Curing Prostate Cancer and Keeping My Sexuality (Paperback)
You Can't Make Love if you're Dead Author: Leon ProchnikI didn't choose to read this book - someone gave it to me, but I had preconceptions when I saw the title. No news that tragedy and comedy live side by side, but it has to be said that stories about people facing life-threatening illnesses are often portayed as romantic, hopeless and wallowing. By contrast, Leon Prochnik describes his experience with prostate cancer with a kind of vulnerability that takes courage because of its raw and human honesty. His book is about facing your demons, and their foot soldiers and getting down on the floor with them. Which makes YOU CAN'T MAKE LOVE IF YOU'RE DEAD pertinent to all of us. Also, throughout, I laughed out loud. Humor - mostly at Leon's expense, is constant, fast and truly enjoyable. This book reads much like a novel, but more poignant than a novel because it is autobiographical. I really hope this work travels beyond the prostate cancer shelf in bookstores or doctors' offices. It's relevance goes way beyond its subject!
