This review is from: I Can't Sit Still: Educating and Affirming Inattentive and Hyperactive Children : Suggestions for Teachers, Parents, and Other Care Providers of Chi (Paperback)
So many misconceptions surround the condition known as ADHD, and the sheer volume of information is daunting to a parent who suddenly finds themselves faced with a diagnosis. As a Special Education major, I have found this book incredibly easy to read and understand. It explains the condition in everyday terms, and gives analogies that effectively illustrate exactly what goes on inside the mind and body of a child with ADD or ADHD. Anyone who may have to deal with one of these children--parents, grandparents, teachers, aunts, caregivers--should read this book. Besides explanations, it has wonderful strategies for managing an ADHD child's behavior. It also has great suggestions for ways to make home life and classroom life easier on both the parent (or teacher) and child. Of all the books I've come across, I rely on this one the most for explaining ADHD to my family and friends who need to understand.
