Young punks that know what good music sounds like.,

Isn't it great when a young, rookie band comes along that not only makes incredibly catchy music, but knows their instruments really well too. That is exactly what Saves The Day is. They make an incredibly satisfying combo with their Pop-Punk, with an Emo twist music style. The guitar playing and drumming is very memorable, and Chris sings with an extra accented punk voice that really leads the band. You should definately buy this if you like A New Found Glory, Slick Shoes, The Get Up Kids, MxPx, or Craig's Brother.

i bought this cd about 6 months ago after i heard it in a friends car and its remains to this day the most incredible cd i own. singer chris conleys lyrics are honest and expressive and his voice his soulful with that extra punk rock flare that could easily be compared to lifetime. but saves the day is in a class by themselves, not at all a carbon copy of anyone. blindfolded and 3 miles down reduce me to tears every time i listen to them...and they rock in concert, i've seen em twice at st. andrews in college park, md. buy this cd.

The best Saves the Day release. Period,

No other way to put it, really. This is what the band encapsulated. While they are growing up and experimenting with more melodic tendencies, the band gained it's rabid cult following through an aggressive yet emotional brand of typical punk rock. While Through Being Cool had a modest hit with "Shoulder to the Wheel" and was immensely popular, Can't Slow Down is a perfect and overwhelming example of everything that the band initially stood for.Combining Chris' most powerful lyrics to date and the most aggressive and powerful songwriting of any of their releases, Can't Slow Down is a staple of the emo-punk trend that has been sweeping across the country. Chris' normally viceral and corporeal lyrics are at his teenage best, combining his heartbreak with his idealistic dreams, his impassioned callings and disappointed stories to create a perfect picture of his life at the time. Ted and David's guitar riffing take the typical modern-punk level and are integral to the emotional ferocity of the CD, and the early stages of the Eben and Bryan rhythm section are in solid roots. Technique and musically, this might be their most complete album, even if it is their most juvenile. As Saves the Day expands their fanbase across the country, this CD will always be a hallmark of their sound and, in my opinion, their strongest and most powerful release ever. Songs like "Jodie," "The Choke," and "Sometimes, New Jersey" are proof of that, staples of their live set and just increadible songs for such a young band. In short, if you're just getting into Saves the Day, I would recommend this CD over the newer ones in an instant. It's essential for even the casual fan.

New Jersey Asks: Another LIFETIME?,

This was the debut album that established STD as a force to be reckoned with. I had the liberty of catching them on tour playing all of these songs just before "Through Being Cool" came out. They toured with Farside, Fastbreak, and did the Boston date with Kid Dynamite. Most of the other bands are disbanded now. This album, while lacking the shiny and clean production of the next "Through Being Cool" album, is an emotional rollercoaster. It is much more raw and intense than later stuff. They have mellowed out a lot, but have really kept being innovative and playing consistently well live. This, the first full chapter in the Saves The Day story, unfolds like many debut albums do. It's definitley an interesting album, especially in comparison with "Stay What You Are". You'd swear they're two completely different bands. Highlights include "Three Miles Down", and "Deciding" - which I couldn't get out of my head for months after seeing them perform live. Also "Always Ten Feet Tall" and "Blindfolded" are quite catchy and energetic. This album is very much in the style of Lifetime's "Jersey's Best Dancers". I do highly recommend this album, especially for fans of Fastbreak, "Through Being Cool"-era Saves The Day, and of course, fans of Lifetime. "Stop me before I say too much..." Saves The Day

Well, I can't be too hard on these guys, it's their debut cd and thery are only like 17. Still, this cd isn't very amazing, it's only ok. I don't know why many people think this is their best cd, their next two cds, Through Being Cool and Stay What You Are blow this out of the water. Can't Slow Down suffers greatly from many problems with uneven guitaring that's drowning out the vocals, a very confused bass player, and drumer who dosen't know when to hit the snare. Still, like every other band, it's their first cd and it's raw. This dosen't make it bad, it's just that there is plenty of room that's left for improvement. The cd opens up with "Deciding", a fast and down to the point track. It's a good song, infact, it's the reason I bought this cd. However, I only heard it on the 30 second sound clips, and I sounded like a great song. So, I rushed out to get the cd. To my dismay, when I played "Deciding" in my cd player, I heard an uneven, sloppy track. Still, I did enjoy it, and do think it is a good song. The rest of the cd is the same way, it's conserned with staying fast and dosen't really care how it sounds in the end. This really hurts the cd badly. However, if you give this cd time, and I mean lots of time, it will eventually start to grow on you, but still, It leaves the listener just unsatisfied. I really wouldn't get this cd unless you are a huge fan of theirs. I reccomend either Through Being Cool or Stay What You Are before this. If you want a good, fast emo-punk cd, check out Allister's Dead Ends and Girlfriends.

Alright.it's hard to describe the most heartfelt cd that I own,and it's hard to describe how this cd changed my life. It's kinda weird how Chris's lyrics can get stuck in your brain all day. I discovered Saves The Day about a year ago,my fiend had been dwelling on on the notion of puchasing Through Being Cool so she eventually did and we were addicted for the next few months. We recieved word that they were gonna play The Swing Set,so we went and were blown away by the huge following of the band and their fans who sang every word back with an unseen level of compassion. So at that point it was time to buy Can't Slow Down."Jodi" remains my favorite song to this day, along with "Always Ten Feet Tall".I saw them in October and actually got to meet Chris.Anyway Please buy this

Oldest album a must-buy,

Saves the Day has acquired many new fans thanks to some of their newer releases like Through Being Cool, Stay What You Are, and In Reverie. Often unnoticed, their first album, Can't Slow Down, is a necessary part of any Saves the Day collection. No two Saves the Day albums sound the same, so each CD is definately worth buying. This album dates the band back to their punk roots and sounds much more raw than the others. The poetic lyrics of Chris Conley, laced with deep metaphors and emotional intensity, contribute to the album's greatness without compromising the musical integrity. Can't Slow Down is definately a must-buy for any fan of any Saves the Day album.

one of their best and my personal favorite,

This album states who saves the day is. Sure, their other newer albums are different, but only because the band has evolved into something even better. If you take time to read the lyrics you get an idea of what lyrics should be. Not all are what goes on in Chris' head, but are fictional. He states that himself. This is no "3 chord guitar vocal following". This album was well thought out and very well written. This is an amazing band and they have come so far to become the band that they are now. And you must know, from Can't Slow Down to, Stay What You Are, and, in a few months "In Reverie" Chris is the only original member since even Sefler. All you have to do is take time to deeply listen and you'll grow attatched to this band more than any other. Buy all their albums. And even the nextr one coming in September.

Alright, well this is the most heartfelt/awe-inspiring cd that I'm priveleged to own. Chris's vulnerable at times vocals and amazing lyrics can invade a person's head. It's impossibe to get sick of this cd. It's definately alot different then their second full lenght,it's alot heavier and doesn't feature the catchy hooks, that's alright it doesn't lack in any way.The band puts on an amazing live show and it's awe-inspiring to see how copassionately the kids in the crowd sing along. This band has changed my life, honestly,no joke at all. I'm Sorry I'm Leaving is a great folow up. I just hope that the next time I see them they play "Jodie",we aways scream for it."Don't forget the mornings that we spent deep inside our heads staring at bank walls, cause' that's what counts..."
