5.0 out of 5 stars Straight Edge Justice indeed
Well, like the reviewer below me I kept seeing commercials for this album during Headbanger's Ball. I also read an interview with them in Revolver and saw that they have 3 singers; seemed pretty cool. Based on hearing the short clip in the commercial, I bought a copy, and goddamn they are amazing. One of the singers has a throatier scream similar to a band like Terror,...

1.0 out of 5 stars Disappointing, September 5, 2006

Back in 1997 when the first Path of Resistance album 'Who Dares Wins' was released , it was an instant classic. The band was a side-project containing members of other hardcore bands (including NYHC legends Earth Crisis) and 'Who Dares Wins' is a textbook example of what a late-90s hardcore album should be.

Fast forward almost 10 years later and POR releases 'Can't Stop The Truth'. I hadn't heard that POR was even working on a new album, so I was quite suprised when I came across it at my local music shop. Being a huge Earth Crisis fan and a big fan of the first POR album, of course I snatched it up. I could not have been more disappointed.

POR uses three vocalists, which in itself, though a bit gimmicky, would be fine... if it didn't sound like each vocalist was constantly stepping on each other toes. There's no rhyme or reason to the vocals. It just sounds sloppy. Speaking of sloppy: the guitars sound awful and the drums... what drums? They're lost in the mix. And the songs themselves just aren't catchy or memorable. But the biggest negative of this album is the production. It is the muddiest sounding album I have heard in a long time. I don't know if this was an "artistic" choice by the band to give the album a more "raw" feel, but it destroys any chance of enjoying the album. The album sounds like it was recorded in a tin can. Its awful.

'Can't Stop The Truth' is the most disappointed I've been in an album in a long time. Even if you're a big EC or POR fan, you will absolutely not like this album. Who knows what the album would've sounded like had the production not been so awful? Maybe good, maybe not. But this release, as it is, is atrocious. Skip it.

1.0 out of 5 stars ...and the truth is ugly, July 1, 2006

I'm glad i only paid 4 bucks for this. 30 min. of alternating between the E and F chords with three guys shouting about injustice, animals and hatred. ZzZzZzZzZzZzZzZzZ. Victory records has got to be the worst the label on earth, seriously. The cover looks like really bad death metal artwork (or similar to the Laughing Dog/Ear Bleeding Disorder split 7" for those who know that). This is the kind of music that makes people hate straight-edgers.

One of the singers has a throatier scream similar to a band like Terror, and one of them has a cleaner shout like a Champion or Comeback Kid. Im not an Earth Crisis or Freya fan so excuse me for not knowing whose who. The lyrics are head and shoulders above most hardcore bands; they tackle issues that have been dealt with for a long time in hardcore, but they express them in more thought-out and creative ways.
Just because they may have a bunch of words that you may not understand doesnt mean that they cant have simple fun too. The second to last track, titled "Intro" of all things, is just a gang shout of "Path of resistance! Straightedge justice!". Its simple, but is very effective, and i can picture a huge pile-on during that song when its done live. Long story short, pick this up and if youre lucky enough to be in an area where they happen to play, then go see them.

much better than the 96 first release but not that good to me.they definetly put alot more in to this cd, but for EC fans try Freya they are more intense, original sounding not a knock of of EC.this does resemble EC but I dislike that in a band that has mostly the same members again.

Good hardcore CD. This cd is all hardcore with some powerful tunes about animals (the singer being a vegan) and some straightedge tunes.

So I was watching tv and I saw another damned Victory commercial, but it was for Path of Resistance. I was like "ain't that an old band?" and then they I hear "CANT STOP THE TRUTH!" I was super siked, then I found out they had more than one singer, I was even more excited. Now mind you I do know the history of this group, I was just never into the chunka chunka old school Victory style hardcore (ya know Strife, Earth Crisis, so on) but for some reason this grabbed my attention. So I causually browsed for it and couldn't find it anywhere. Then the other day I'm at the record store and I looked at the used section and right there standing in the front of the P row, Path of Resistance stands! I feaked out (outwardly I remained calm fool, don't trip!) and was like "awesome! I can't find this anywhere and I found it used, whoot whoot!" So I popped this bad boy into my ipod and I what I hear is good. You'd think that 3 singers would seem incredably gimmicky, but it actually works. It is a sort of tag team switch off, not like the Beastie Boys but you just gotta hear it. Anyways, yeah it is good, gang shout alongs and youth crew madness without the metal! Kids need to get schooled these days, all these kids claiming edge who listen to Bleeding Through and those god awful Florida bands (except KLU, don't trip) don't know a thing about pure hardcore. I mean honestly how can a kid do the whole straight edge thing without ever hearing a Youth of Today album? Get schooled you fool! I'd suggest every moron with x's incased around his message board screen name needs to check this out, wait no they shouldn't, you kids give already bad bands even worse names, I had to see you whore and tarnish the reputation of a decent band. Honestly if I see another "poison free' or "straight f***ing edge" t-shirt at the show, I'm going to snap, screw you and your little boy crew I'll beat some emo ass, believe that. I hope these guys go on tour, all these sing along parts will only result in one thing:

front row mayhem... and you best believe I'm studying those lyrics, I'm a sing along superstar, know this.
