I have also read Sarif's other novels, The World Unseen and Despite the Falling Snow and I'm amazed at the versatility and talent of this author. I Can't Think Straight is a witty and well crafted page turner and love story. The book also explores themes such as tolerance of religion towards homosexuality and attitudes towards the Middle East conflict. It's a must read.

In short, I loved this book! I don't think there is any other author who can capture emotions and feelings as well as Shamim Sarif can! I read it in 5 hours nonstop, I just couldn't put it down, you'll laugh at some parts and choke up at others, but ultimatly you'll want to keep this book around forever. And if you liked the World Unseen, this book is just as awesome! It even comes with a few pictures from the making of movie in the back!:)

It was a great book, it might not have had many erotic scenes but from what they had it was well worth it. Shamim sarif is a great author and knows how to define each character in her book.

This is an awesome book. This book is well worth reading after you've watched the movie. You can tell when Tala and Leyla first met it was attraction at first sight. The fathers were the best to their daughters. The mothers over looked their daughters feelings and happeness. Leyla's sister Yasman was cool and Tala's younger sister Zina was the good sister while Lamia was pain in the ass! The maid was so funny! You will not reqret buying this. While your at it buy the movie too because it is awesome and well worth your money!

I really enjoyed this book. I think it is well written and I have read the author's other book "World Unseen" which is excellent. The stories are realistic and not to farfetched.

The book is easy to read and follow. The book contains a typical love story between two women from different cultures. The writing is not as exceptional as The World Unseen but still worth a read.

okay, I wasn't going to review this book, because it was so typical - and since I haven't read that many lesbian books, I'd say - of love / self-discovery stories. thank god, especially after reading the horrendous atypical drivel I had the last 2 nights that made me want to re-re-evaluate my sexuality. the characters in this book are like-able and genuine. I still don't understand how one can fall in love after such limited encounters, but maybe that's what meeting "the one" is about. I enjoyed the writing style and story-telling: it's clear, succinct and the storyline flows. A nice break from the mundane and perfect for a short afternoon break.

Fresh and light and yet asking the right questions about one's feelings and how to deal with them in our contemporain so-called developped society ...
