More About the Author

Kathleen Blease knows it can be a tough job turning children into Catholic angels single-handedly! Married to a lovable non-Catholic for 17 years, she wants to encourage other "mixed couples" while they raise their little charges in the Faith.

She blogs about her marriage's Catholic/non-Catholic chemistry--and all other curiosities such as spiritual books, recipes, and God's creation--at KATHLEEN'S CATHOLIC: How Grace Drizzles In. (www.kathleenscatholic.blogspot.com). Kindle Blogs now delivers her posts to ereaders all over the country.

Kathleen was a staff editor for major publishing houses many moons ago and is now a long-time homeschooling mom of rambunctious teenage boys. She is also a CatholicMom.com columnist and author of I CAN'T WAIT TO MEET MY DADDY, a gift book for expectant dads.

Kathleen is presently writing I'M CATHOLIC, AND YOU'RE NOT: A HOPE-FILLED GUIDE TO LOVING YOUR NON-CATHOLIC SPOUSE AND RAISING YOUR CHILDREN IN THE FAITH. Her blog also features sketches and recipes from her future cookbook, THE LITTLE CATHOLIC KITCHEN.

Long separated from the publishing capital of Manhattan, she now lives in a tiny village tucked in the rolling hills of Pennsylvania, along with her sons and husband.

I purchased this book for my son who is having his first baby. I read it before I gave it to him and I was in tears. it is so beautiful The pictures alone are lovely but the words....are precious. When I gave it to him, he was beside himself with joy. It was written all over his face....and in his voice. You must purchase it. You won't be disappointed.

I bought this book for my husband's birthday as a gift from our newborn son. The story brought tears to both of our eyes. I highly recommend this for any one who is going to be a father or already is one.

I Can't Wait To Meet My Daddy by Kathleen Blease is an enchanting picturebook for very young children, that also serves as a wonderful gift for new and expectant fathers. The somewhat abstract, reassuring impressionist style of art by Bruce Fackenthal reinforces the simple message with vivid color. I Can't Wait To Meet My Daddy is a treasury of emotional warmth.

I have purchased this for my husband as a Father's Day gift for the Father's Day before the baby is born (baby expected in 1.5 months). Overall, my husband is very excited about the baby and already we talk about what the baby could be thinking (if the baby could think in words), e.g., "yay! ice cream again!" or "ooh, what happens if I kick really hard over HERE?" For a dad who is already interested in the baby I think this is a great gift.

The book has 25 pages plus a final page that can be personalized like an invitation, e.g., "I can't wait to meet my daddy, [John Doe]. Let's meet on [due date] at [birth [place] with [Jane Doe]. Love, [Baby Doe]." The very first page is a note (almost like a letter) from the author to the new father that is sentimental without being too sappy. For example, "This person you helped make has never been before."

Each regular page shows a different impressionist style picture with about 5 lines of text, in a nice sized font (16?). The pictures cover the whole page (no "rim") and the same picture continues on the left and right page on each flip. The text is always on the right-hand page. The pages are a little glossy.

The text is written as if the unborn child were telling someone (or talking to him-/herself) about the anticipation of meeting Daddy. The text isn't a story, but more of a list of all the things the child can't wait to do with Daddy or what the child daydreams of doing with Daddy. There should be something for everyone in these ideas (looking at stars, writing the alphabet, reading the globe, riding a bike, adding 2+2, etc). Most examples are phrased like this example from page 13: "He'll show me how to plant a tree, and fly a kite, and catch a fish, and even, I wonder, how to ski.

Such a beautiful story. I absolutely love the illustration! I shed lots of hormonally induced tears the first time I read it. Daddy-to-be liked it too.

I bought this book for our son as he awaits his first child. Wish the books were a pair...one for the mommy and one for the daddy, but since there wasn't a "mommy" one, I sewed our daughter-in-law a maternity top.

He loved the book. In fact our son immediately e-mailed his dad for some fatherly advice about games, hobby activities, etc.

The book is sweet, heart-warming, and beautifully illustrated. My only concern was that I felt there could have been a little more focus about the father-daughter relationship...it seemed sort of "son" targeted to me.

Still, it's a beautiful gift for the father-to-be.
