I was very confused by Amazon's description of the cd here. They show only the track listing of the 8 songs from the original album but there are indeed 5 bonus tracks here. This is also not the Japanese import but rather the reissue done by Soul Music in 2008. And is it remastered? It doesn't say it anywhere but the sound quality is amazing and definitely equal to the sound quality of all her albums being released remastered lately. So my guess is that it is. Sadly I think all the confusion here may keep many from purchasing this musical gem.

CAN'T WE FALL IN LOVE AGAIN was Phyllis Hyman's 1981 disco album. Not over the top gimmicky disco but fun music that still displayed her innate vocal gift while being fun to move to. The album is light on ballads. It opens with the very catchy YOU SURE LOOK GOOD TO ME And the title track, a duet with Michael Henerson is a true ballad with two voices meant to be together. The one other ballad is of course a standout. It is the haunting JUST ANOTHER FACE IN THE CROWD. Other highlights are the fun I AIN'T ASKING FOR YOUR LOVE and TONIGNT YOU AND ME. Sadly Phyllis Hyman's life took a tragic turn and the release of the individual albums is such a joy. I love the compilations but the cds such as this show all sides of Phyllis. And this cd provides fun, happy dance music sung by a diva. Her range and presence vocally is amazing. The 5 bonus tracks were songs recorded for this album that never made it to it. SLEEP ON IT is a great uptempo song with YOU'RE THE ONE being a soaring dance track that in my mind could have been a huge hit. And the ballad IN BETWEEN THE HEARTACHES shows Phyllis in her prime. A hauntingly beautiful ballad. Her gifts were immense and it is such a loss that she was taken from us so early. With albums such as this though we can rejoice in the joy that Phyllis provided. As I said, there are 13 tracks and not 8, the sound is beautiful and the purchase of this cd is a must.

This 1981 release is worth buying for the beautiful and heart-rending ballads "The Sunshine In My Life", "Just Another Face In The Crowd" and "The Love Too Good To Last". The title track was Phyllis' majestic Duet with Michael Henderson and it should have been a much bigger hit. "You Sure Look Good To Me", however, sounds much too similar to The Pointer Sisters' 1980 hit "He's So Shy" and was not appropriate for Phyllis.
