Pedro Fernandez takes an unusually gentle approach to these classic songs by 20th Century Mexico's greatest Ranchera songwriter. This album is very well played, produced, and sung. Most singers (see Vicente Fernandez' outstanding CD tribute to Jimenez) belt these tunes out with much greater force, but Pedro's more introspective approach offers a new way of hearing these beloved songs of passion and heartbreak. The version of "Despacito" on the disc has become a huge radio hit. Although I prefer Vicente's macho style, Pedro's is more likely to have broad appeal.

This CD is a must have. I first got it when it came out and I am getting it again because my first one got worn out from so much use. Lo recomiendo a toda la gente que le gusta la musica de Jose Alfredo Jimenez y de Pedro Fernandez. En verdad Pedro interpreta su musica con mucho carino y respeto.

So , I've become a freak for Mariachi Music ! Ever since I watched, " La Hija Del Mariachi "--, life has not been the same !!
This cd enabled me to take in another interpretation of Jose Alfredo Jimenez's wonderful music.
Allthough , I am not a big fan of Pedro Fernandez---(I prefer Vicente, and Jairo Del Valle ! )---Pedro does a very good job providing a different interpretation. This is a keeper. Thank you Amazon and thank you to the vendor for the great shopping experience.
