This is such a nice album, made with so much respect and 'humilde' for Paulinho's compositions, that it's hard to complain about anything. It's just great to have all these compositions recorded all together; it's a fantastic compendium of all of the beautiful sambas which Paulinho has written over forty years.

Teresa Cristina sings well and honestly, and her love and care for the music shines through. No, she's not Paulinho, but it's also nice to hear her ideas about the music. The box set is also nice, because it gives us lyrics for all of Paulinho's music - missing from most of the early albums. The choro accompaniment is just right and well played; nice also to have Paulinho participate himself.

I'm still waiting for Paulinho to record this album himself, along with songs from Cartola, Nelson Cavaquinho, Ze Kete, Noel Rosa, Aldir Blanc, Candeia, Portola, and the other sambistas whose songs he sings from time to time . . .

Teresa Cristina's voice and melody are truly amazing. Even though she chooses to sing Paulinho Da Viola's songs; which is, an act of courage for he is one of Brazil's best samba singer, she does it her own way in a magnificent manner.

Teresa Cristina is the revelation of "root samba". Singing in Rio's samba night clubs since late 90's, Teresa and groupo Semente are the most exciting thing in samba nowadays. Their choice to play Paulinho da Viola is very intelligent, since he turned 60 last year's. Highly recommended.
