5.0 out of 5 stars To die of pleasure... The Roman Cantatas of Luigi Rossi, March 24, 2006
This review is from: Le Canterine Romane (Roman Cantatas) (Audio CD)
Rossi does not have the fame today that his works deserve. This baroque composer was famed throughout the world in his era and beyond, and I'd love to see his works more widely appreciated today to give inexpressible pleasure to listeners.

This CD is ravishing. There is simply no other word for it. The works here vary in number of singers - sometimes 2, sometimes 3 - and the harmonious blend is like the stars of the evening sky gathering together in sweet bliss.

The extremely high standard of the music and the beautiful performance of the cantatas makes this the sort of CD that causes its listeners to say aloud, "Oh, how beautiful!" and flip back to the beginning of the track, just to convince their ears that it was as lovely as they thought.

Of the singers, Suzie LeBlanc is outstanding, but both Emily Van Evera and Barbara Borden are extremely good, and the vocal blend is sublime.
