A Must Have if you're a vampire chronicles fan, November 26, 2007
This review is from: Cantico De Sangre/ the Blood Canticle (Latrama) (Paperback)
For introduction, this book is related entirely by my favorite character "Lestat de Lioncourt" so I definitively enjoyed the first chapter, where he talks about himself as a saint and the desire to really be a saint, and makes a reference of San Juan Diego, a Mexican saint, he was an Indian that was canonized by the pope Juan Pablo II, that part was amazing, because Lestat shows a part poorly known of him, the wish to be a saint, the feeling to love god, to be near him, it just shocked me.
If you enjoyed the last book, Blackwood Farm, then you won't be disappointed to read the first chapters, because it continues the last chapter of Blackwood Farm, you just can't stop reading. Almost the half of the book talks all about "Taltos", a new kind of human beings, tall and superior race, that have some supernatural powers.
Unfortunately, this book wasn't what I was expecting; it doesn't happens as many things as other books of vampire chronicles, looks like all things happens so sudden and finish so quickly that you almost lose the taste, It doesn't feel like other works of Anne Rice, but it worth a look because of the beginning, how Mona, Lestat an Quinn get together and how they interact in the entire book, an unexpected romance and some revelations from Mona and Michael.
The phantom of Patsy didn't mean anything as I was expecting, I thought it would take an important role in the story, but it just appeared to be vanished forever. Remember Julian Mayfair? He seems to have a better role in story than Patsy. Talking too much to Lestat and driving him crazy
To finalize, if you are a vampire chronicles fan, this one is a must read, if you are a casual reader then skip this one and read the first ones. This book shows us a new Lestat, to know him better and to know his thoughts and how much he can love the persons near him
