I upgraded my 7.1 Home Theater system with these speakers. I'm using 3 pairs of Canton Ergo 620 speaker, Canton Ergo 655 center channel speaker, Yamaha RX-A2000 Receiver. My previous speakers were 3 pairs of yamaha NS-333 and the matching center channnel. The difference is amazingly better. The canton's produce a crisp clean natural sound. With the yamaha's my head would start to ache after listening to movies for long periods of time and certain tones would feel unpleasant, this is no longer the case with these canton. These speakers sound great with both music and movies, but movies is were they really shine. I'm hearing sounds in movies that I didn't notice before. I'm using a 10 inch subwoofer so I'm unable to comment on the bass response of these bookshelf speakers.

I usually don't write reviews on the things I buy but this product just amazed me so much that I felt compelled to put in my opinion. First off, the real wood finish on these speakers are absolutely beautiful and the craftsmanship is top notch. The minute I opened the box up I knew that this was a high quality product. Now, most important thing is the sound. How do these speakers sound? Given that people set these babies up correctly, the sound is just breathless... I placed these in my study room which is about 12x15 ft and they don't need a subwoofer for the bass region. The bass is very punchy and exceptionally tight. No boomy or flabby bass here, just accurate bass. I tested these speakers anything from Diana Krall, Norah Jones, Hip Hop, Classical, to Rock music and they never failed me. The tweeter is gorgeous sounding. I felt as if the speakers amplified the sound into mid air and then slowly let the beautiful sound dissolves away. For a lager room, you might want to add in a subwoofer in order to experience really deep bass region. I have listened to Paradigm S20, Dali Ikon 2 mk2, B&W CM5, Usher X-718, and many other bookshelves in the 1500 price range and this is one of my favorite regarding music. The tweeters on the Paradigm might be a little more airy but lack the punch and attack of the Canton. The Dali are also very good and balanced sounding. Anyway, do yourself a favor and pick up a pair of these if you're in the market for some audiophile bookshelf speakers. I powered these with a Yamaha A-S700 integrated amplifier with an Onkyo CD player. Couldn't be more happy especially at the price I paid for it.
