Desitin's new rival!,
This review is from: Canus Li'l Goat's Milk 40% Zinc Ointment For Diaper Rash (10 Ounces) (Health and Beauty)
I have always preferred Desitin to other brands because of the high percentage (40%) of zinc oxide. I've finally found another...and it's made with goat's milk too!
This diaper rash cream is very thick and protects the skin extremely well, the fragrance is an added bonus. Even though this comes in a smaller container than Desitin, it IS cheaper as well. I highly recommend this cream for your little one, it's now our favorite!

I thought we were stuck with stinky, fish-oil and talc-containing Desitin if we wanted 40% zinc oxide in a diaper cream. Then I found this stuff! It works just as well as Desitin for us, perhaps better, and it smells nice (to us -- some people don't like the scent). While it doesn't contain fish oil or talc, it does, however, contain petrolatum, mineral oil, and parabens -- which some people do not like. We love it, however. It's also quite affordable -- a large tub can be found for under $7, generally. There's not much else to say -- it's a nice thick, effective diaper cream. I recommend it if you want 40% zinc oxide and you're comfortable with the "inactive" ingredients of "Petrolatum , Fresh Goat's Milk , Mineral Oil , Paraffinum Liquidum , Emulsifying Wax NF , Fragrance , Beeswax , Propylene Glycol , Diazolidinyl Urea , Methylparaben , Propylparaben."

I love this product. This is the best butt cream on the market. It can take care of a bad diaper rash (and I am talking BAD) in a matter of hours. Just excellent overall.
However, I am not sure about the vendor. The cream is usually very creamy and this one is like sandy. And usually there is an expiration date at the bottom of the can, and nothing on this one. This is suspicious. I am still using it and don't see any bad effect on my baby but I am not completely satisfied with the vendor.

We tried the Desitin 40% zinc, which worked well, but stank. We tried Desitin Creamy, which sort of worked, but the "fresh scent" drove us crazy. After searching for weeks, we could not find any unscented 40% zinc oxide ointment, so we settled on Li'l Goat's Milk. There is a scent to it, but it's not too bad, and not too strong, either. We also like the effort they made to keep it as natural as possible. This takes care of all diaper rashes other than yeast infections, which are cured by Lotrimin. The only thing that could make this better would be to have no scent at all.

I have used A&D with zinc on all three of my children, the youngest of whom is now 10 months old. I could no longer find it in stores, so I tried this through Amazon.com
Very impressed! Pleasant, mild scent (resembles Noxema), excellent rash protection, thick but not gooey, easy to remove. More affordable than A&D or Desitin ($3.99 for 4 oz) My new standby!

Please be aware that paraben preservatives are an ingredient listed in this product. Additionally, the perfume found in this product is not "baby" smelling but instead smells like aftershave.

Better than Desitin, A&D and Penaten,
This review is from: Canus Li'l Goat's Milk 40% Zinc Ointment For Diaper Rash (10 Ounces) (Health and Beauty)
I've been using this on my 10 mos old since he was 2 mos old. I use it on every diaper change and I haven't reached the bottom of the jar yet. I've used desitin, butt paste, A&D and even penaten (which I swore was the best with my daughter). With my son, even penaten did not work. A couple of hours after the first application of Little Goats, the diaper rash was history. It's terrific and I'd be lost without it.

Works on Ringworm AND Diaper Rash!,
This review is from: Canus Li'l Goat's Milk 40% Zinc Ointment For Diaper Rash (10 Ounces) (Health and Beauty)
I was in a hurry and reaching for the Canus Baby Butter at a retailer and grabbed this by mistake -- it was providential! My daughter has had severe ringworm on her legs all summer (she must have picked it up from the hundreds of sweet puppy dogs we are constantly meeting on our nature walks). I got a prescription anti-fungal cream but it wasn't working very well. She still had red, irritated, ITCHY legs. This cream gave the antifungal product the boost it needed to actually work. I put the antifungal on her legs twice a day and the Canus Zinc Oxide on her legs whenever I change her diaper. Within three weeks, the ringworm is almost totally gone -- and this is after MONTHS of using the antifungal cream by itself.Someone else mentioned that they don't like reaching into a tub to get ointment out -- but that's exactly what I LOVE about this product. It only takes a TINY amount of ointment to entirely cover the whole diaper area. And generally when I'm changing a diaper I don't have two free hands to wrangle with a cap and a tube. The tub option is perfect. I can keep my daugher contained and still get the ointment on her without a mess and a hassle. I also use this cream on my 4-year-old son when his bottom gets chafed from running and hiking. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

This stuff saved my daughter's rear. She has had terrible diaper rash off and on since 3 months old. A few weeks ago, it was so bad, I nearly went to the doctor. I researched a bit on Amazon and this product popped up.
I am so impressed! I noticed a difference within one diaper change. The texture is creamy and thick, which covers well (especially when I need it to go over open sores). I guess the high percentage of zinc is what quickly cleared the rash. In one day, her rash looked so much better. I think it took 3 days for it to really clear completely. My daughter seemed in much less pain in only 1 day. This stuff does smell like Noxema, as other reviewers have noted. I don't mind the smell. The goat's milk makes her skin so soft. I only wish it came in tube form!! Great price, too. I think it's worth noting that she has been completely free of any diaper rash since I started using it (3 or 4 weeks now). Don't think too much about it- get it if your kid has bad diaper rash. |
