Virtual trip to the desert,
By "daphalina" (Boulder, CO United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Canyons of Light (Audio CD)
This CD is an interesting combination of electronic music with a Native American flair. The result is mystical and serene. It provides the perfect tone to unwind after a long, stressful day. This unique CD captures the spirit of the American Southwest with a depth and complexity not often found in new age music. Close your eyes and feel the soft desert wind against your skin.

One of my favorite new age CD's,

This CD is one of my favorite CD's. The music really goes somewhere and is not the same thing over and over. Although there WAS some controversy over the producer Lenz, the music is still exceptional.ecologie is really good too.

Luckily I was not swayed by a reviewer with an axe to grind but no substantive feedback.I really like this album - having lived in the Southwest it does take me back to the subtle beauty of the desert and high plains. Several tracks also have a certain visceral power which grabs my attention when I listen. A definite welcome change from the Tangerine Dream genre. Give it a listen for yourself.

Good new age music themed around US Southwest,

As a long time fan of Zazen, this one is one of my favorites. Not as single focused as "Mystery School", this one still has deep substance but can easily be listened to as background music.

This is a superb collection of music. Not only does it give the impression of various places of power in the southwestern U.S., but the music was also made to correspond to the chakras. Listening to these songs increased my energy level and put me in a better frame of mind.

Contrary to what a previous reviewer said, the tracks on this album are very much the same as one another. And the attempt to combine "Native American" sounds with synthesizer only barely works. "Canyons of Light" sounds like something you'd hear as background music in a store that sells crystals and incense along with books on finding your inner something-or-other. Nowhere near as good as the "Mystery School" album.
