Cap Barbell Neoprene Dumbbell Set with Rack

I purchased my Cap Barbell neoprene dumbbell 3#/5#/8# set from another online fitness store about 6 months ago. This set is a great starter set for toning and weight training at home.

These are good quality dumbbells (comparable to Troy brand) and are colored red, aqua and purple. Neoprene dumbbells are less damaging on flooring, don't smell bad, and (because of their hex shape) don't roll away. They are also easier to grip and more gentle on your hands (especially if you prefer to weight train without gloves).

I use these dumbbells almost daily and really like them.

This item isnt really what I would call good quality. Not bad for the price, but still not great either. And after shipping it cost me about 80 dollars total. The weights are nice, and comfortable, however the plastic stand is very poor quality and the assembly screws strip very easily. So be careful what size screwdriver you use... or trust me, they will strip and you wont be able to get them in any further or extract them. Once finally assembled it is very wobbly if the bottom two purple weights aren't there balancing it. So in other words, if you are using the heavy 8 prouder weights and have the other 2 sets (3,5 lbs) up top the stand will most likely fall over, and if you are very unlucky, break in the process. If this were for me I wouldn't care too much, but I got it as a gift for my mother... so I am embarrassed to say the least (she's too nice to say anything about the quality.) In the end I definitely wouldn't buy this as a gift for someone else, but if you don't mind the stand giving you fits then its not bad as a personal starter weight set.

I like this set of weights. The stand is really flimsy, but I didn't buy it for the stand so I am happy.

Overall, for a set of weights this product delivers. However, the packaging was horrible. I opened the box to find what seemed to be a water damaged box that smelled bad. I had to air out the items and wash a few things with some lysol wipes.

Also, the provided stand is a piece of junk. It is not sturdy and can easily topple over. I have a feeling it will crack eventually. The screws for the stand were defective. Of the 7 sent (I am guessing only 6 were supposed to be packaged) 4 were fine and the other three were defective. A Phillips screw has 4 ends of a cross and one of them on the defective screws were filled in. So imagine a "T" instead of a "+". I had to use a flat head screwdriver at an angle to use the screws.

If you don't care for the stand and your package doesn't seem water damaged for $53 you can't go wrong.

Very nice dumbells with the most useful range of weights. The stands however is not great. First off, it's black, not white as in the picture. It's made of brittle black hard plastic. Probably wouldn't last long. Buy it for the dumbells, not for the rack.

As others have said, the dumbbells are of excellent quality. They fit the hands nicely, they have a protective neoprene coating, and they don't roll around when you set them down. They are not heavy enough for serious lifting, but they are perfect for adding to your cardio workout.

I only gave them four stars for the same reasons as others, the weights are great, but the plastic rack is garbage. As mentioned, the screws don't fit well and tend to strip, the plastic is cheap, and the thing is unstable. I don't expect it to make it longer than a month or two.

Buy this set for the weights, but forget the rack. Oh, and by the way, my rack was black, not white like in the photo. That actually worked out better with my color scheme, but it would be nice if I knew in advance.

When we received this dumbell set the first time, there were slashes in the neoprene of two of the dumbells. We returned them. Amazon paid. But--let me tell you that it is a huge pain in the butt to return something this heavy--no matter who pays for it. I asked for a replacement set and the replacement set was slashed too!
We finally realized that the way the rack is packed against the dumbells in the box is what's causing the slashing to happen probably during shipping. So we shipped them back again with the Amazon return label. I don't usually complain about Amazon here, because this is really a place to talk about the product. But the product is worth only one star under the circumstances. However, so is Amazon. They actually did not fully reimburse me. They took out return shipping for a product that was defective both times I tried it. No stars for Amazon here.

I love this weight set! The only reason I don't give it 5 stars is that the stand isn't super strong. It's a little wobbly, which isn't helped by my uneven floor. It hasn't collapsed or anything, so that's good! The weights themselves are great!

Very nice set of weights for home exercise program. They are comfortable to hold and easy to grip.
