Product Description

The Case-it D-145 Large Capacity Zipper Binder is an efficiently-designed 3-ring organizer with a five-color, tabbed expanding file folder. This large-capacity binder also features a gusseted zipper for easy access plus a carry handle and shoulder strap for versatile mobility. The zipper has a unique angled design to make it easier and quicker to zip things up when packed with your important papers and materials. The D-145, like all of Case-it's binders, uses Kraft board instead of PE board to give its binders a firm, stiff shape that won't buckle or warp. The spine is specially designed so that your binder can lay flat when open, making it easier to add or take papers out, and to take notes in. Case-it produces quality binders offering unique organizational tools for school or home use.

Great quality, and very durable.

This notebook also has a nice handle along the spine, as well as a long, adjustable strap, for carrying the binder, if you don't want to put it in your backpack.

My son had to have a 3 inch zipper binder, and he liked this blue one the best.

August: I normally wouldn't write a review for a binder that has ~134 reviews, but this binder got some undeserved negative reviews. This is not the forum for discussing whether children should be carrying heavy books/packs, or not. I have 2 kids going into 7th and 9th grade. The fact is, mine do, and they need "giant" binders because every teacher wants them to have a tabbed section for their class. So, I have had experience looking for binders that are 3.5" wide at the spine, or larger, for 3 years. This is my 4th year. I agree that these types/styles binders are not always the most durable. Twice, I've had to purchase a new binder 1/2 way through the school year. My kids haven't used these yet, but just looking at this binder, it seems more durable than many I've seen and/or purchased. The 3 rings, and the "tabs" on the top and bottom for opening the rings, are metal. Last year, my sons' binders had metal rings but the tabs were plastic, so, of course, they broke. This shouldn't be a problem with the metal "tabs."

The hard cardboard or plastic (I don't know what it is) that makes the front and back covers stiff, and is covered with the "fabric" is quite stiff. I'd say stiffer than some past notebooks my son's have used. So I expect it to hold up better than some past binders.

This notebook also has a nice handle along the spine, as well as a long, adjustable strap, for carrying the binder, if you don't want to put it in your backpack.

As far as this binder not fitting into a backpack when several large textbooks are present (as another reviewer stated), the solution is to purchase a large backpack with a large base/bottom.

I am a university professor, and I love my Case It binders!

I have one for each course I ever develop. The Case It binder, especially this one, allows you to keep lots of documents, CDs/DVDs, memory sticks, even loose papers neatly organized. Although one parent has complained that the expandable file folders are a waste of space, I make great use of them, and I suspect many students could, too. Any hand-out that comes along without holes punched in it has a tidy and secure place to live. And because the whole thing zips up, even loose items (I keep the related textbook for my course tucked inside my Case It) don't fall out. And the shoulder strap keeps my hands free for other things.

It is true that this binder will not fit easily into a standard backpack, so a child who has to carry lots of books, might not want to add this to the pile. But if you're equipped with a locker, or are an adult looking to organize materials for a single project or course, this might be the perfect thing for you. Parents might also consider other Case It models (some available here at Amazon) that offer more pockets, nooks, and crannies, but not the files. As for the shoulder strap, it's not the cushiest, but it certainly makes it easy to be on the go with your work. And quality of materials? Mine all still look like new; they've held up great (but I'm not a middle school boy). :)

My son's school requested that each student have a 3" zipper binder. We were unable to find one so settled on a 2" binder that was broken within the first few weeks of school. We found this binder at Amazon.com and he has been using it without problems ever since. It worked so well be ordered a second one for our daughter because her standard 2" binder had also broken. These things stand up to the daily abuse that middle school students can dish out! Great product!

I purchased this binder for the sole purpose of holding my coupons. I absolutely love it! The side pocket holds all of the ads for the stores and because it expands I can take all my coupons with me to the stores. The zipper pouch holds my scissors, paper & calculator. I would recommend it to any one who is interested in a coupon binder.

I LOVE this binder. I have used it for over a year for my coupons. It takes a great deal of abuse and holds up well. I see many reviews saying that the zipper breaks and it is cheaply made. I don't understand this, because mine is still good as new and I am pretty hard on it. I wonder if some come from a different factory or something. I cut out the expanding file to make more room for my pages and re-attached the zippered pocket inside the front cover to hold my scissors, etc. So sturdy and holds a ton.

What a disappointment! This was such a great binder when we first got it, large enough to fit all middle school stuff, with a convenient handle & strap. BUT after 1 month, it needs to be replaced. The rings have become so loose, they are no longer closing properly: the paper sheets are falling off & every subject needs to be re-sorted at night. Many other students have the same issue. Not worth the price (abt. $27.00 with shipping).
