I got this battery to use with my Sony CyberShot camera. When I first charged it and plugged it in, the camera said it could not operate with a "non-compatible" battery. I was frustrated. However, before I returned it, I emailed the bargaincell people (who sell & ship the battery through Amazon), and they gave me some hints:

"Please insert old battery first, power on your camera, while camera is on remove old battery, insert new battery, than power on your camera again. See if it works. Also, make sure plastic is off battery. Let me know if this does not work for you"

Although the suggestion did not work, I decided to try one more thing. I discharged the battery by using a paperclip and then recharged it. Now it works just fine.

I have no idea how long my "fix" will last or if it will flake out again. I'm going to cross my fingers and hope for the best. If you don't want to deal with this, you might want to just order the Sony namebrand battery instead.

This battery works perfectly fine in the Sony DSC-HX5V. The nice about the NP-FG1 is that it will show battery usage left in minutes. Bought 2 of these batteries and when they are fully charged one shows over 232 minutes left and the other shows over 193 minutes left. Each will give you enough power to take 200 or more photos without flash and the GPS receiver on. Taking movies used the battery somewhat faster, but you will easily get one hour movie (8Gig SD Card) in HD with the battery. The NP-BG1 that comes with the camera is 960mAh Li-ion, and these are 1100mAh Li-ion. The picture shows this battery to be a 1200mAh Li-ion, but it is only 1100mAh, thus the drop of a star. For the price you can get this at about 20% the cost (with shipping cost) of the Sony NP-FG1. A good buy.

UPDATE as to this Battery Use Time!!! My apologizes as to the use times for this battery as I must correct the error. Here is the times for each of the operation modes. You should see time somewhere within this range with this battery.
TIMES FOR MODES OF OPERATION.......MODE to view Photos: approx. 250 Minutes. MODE view Video (all formats): 190 to 105 minutes. MODE single/multi shot Photos: 145 to 160 minutes. MODE HD and MP4 60/30fps Movie: 65 to 75 minutes. MODE MP4 VGA 30fps Movie: 90 to 105 Minutes. This is with GPS On, Standard screen brightness and you should see slightly lower times with the screen on bright.

I cannot recommend that anyone buy this battery. It would not even charge. Just stay away from this manufacturer and supplier.

I will no longer buy cheaper substitute batteries for my camera. They don't last as long as these do. These batteries also have enough juice in them to make a clear picture, unlike the others which only power my camera enough to produce fuzzy pictures. These are fully rechargeable and hold a charge through many pictures.

These batteries work perfect in my Sony HD camera. They were a fraction of the cost of the name brand Sony battery. Delivered quickly and in perfect condition. Great transation.

I recently bought a camera and wanted an extra battery so I could always have one charged and ready to go. This was a great price and shipped quickly.

It works just as good as the original. If you need a back-up battery, this one works great.

the battery works on my sony w290. so far so good and seems to last as long as the original battery that came with the camera.

Bought this as an alternate/backup battery to use on my new Sony W290 digital camera.
Works perfectly and holds a charge well.

The battery is okay. I used it for a few days and it was already done with the charge. Wish the charge lasted longer. Did ship fast.
