5.0 out of 5 stars AWESOME!!
Volume 2!! This is another awesome collection of games from the golden era of arcade! Many games here were made for NES and SNES, but now we get REAL arcade versions!

Each game looks wonderful and comes with history info, unlockable art, tips, cast, and music. You can adjust the screen, difficulty, etc.... Progress can be saved anytime during gameplay...

Volume 2!! This is another awesome collection of games from the golden era of arcade! Many games here were made for NES and SNES, but now we get REAL arcade versions!

Each game looks wonderful and comes with history info, unlockable art, tips, cast, and music. You can adjust the screen, difficulty, etc.... Progress can be saved anytime during gameplay. Multiple players can play the shooter and brawler games together for more fun. These games really test your reflexes. Most games have beautiful graphics. The game designers' vivid imagination shines. I hope Capcom will make a volume 3 with Dark Stalkers.

Here are the machines:

1941:Counter Attack. A vertical shooter. You shoot up German WW2 planes, ships, vehicles, etc... Good game.

Avengers: A vertical brawler. Average game.

Black Tiger: A horizontal platformer similar to Ghosts 'n Goblins series. Medieval setting. Good game.

Block Block: A ping-pong game similar to Arcanoid(not sure of the spelling). Good game.

Captain Commando: A horizontal brawler similar to Streets of Rage, Golden Axe and Final Fight. You can pick up cool guns, operate robots(similar to riding on beasts from Golden Axe). Enemy design could be better. Good game.

Eco Fighter: A zany horizontal shooter. Control is similar to Forgotten Worlds. Nice graphics. I think this game was never released in U.S. arcades because it speaks Japanese. Great game.

The King of Dragons: A horizontal brawler with mediveal setting. Some RPG elements because you level up various statistics. Bigger and better weapons/armors are acquired as you progress. Nice graphics. Great game.

Knights of The Round: A mediveal horizontal brawler. Bigger and better weapons/armors are acquired as you progress. Nice graphics. Great game.

Last Duel: A futuristic shooter. Decent game.

Magic Sword: A simple medieval horizontal brawler. You unlock jail doors to recruit fellow fighters that act like satellite. Good game.

Mega Twins: A cute cartoon horizontal platformer. I think this was never released in U.S. arcades. Great game.

Quiz & Dragons: A trivia game. Good game.

Side Arms: Hyper Dyne. A futuristic horizontal shooter. You control a jet pack wearing hero then combine with another jet suit for more cool fire power. Average game.

Street Fighter: The original fighter game. The original arcade machine have 2 big 'power' sensitive buttons, the hitting strength determined heavy, medium or light attack. You literally get a work-out playing this game. Funky control with cheesy yet funny voice actor. Good game.

Strider: A futuristic horizontal platformer. You control a futuristic Ninja with sword slash attack. Awesome graphics. Cool design. There are various spoken languages between levels, including Japanese, Russian and Chinese. I played this game on Genesis but Genesis version didn't have voice-overs, so the arcade version in this Capcom Classics Collection V2 is truly great. Superb game.

Super Street Fighter II Turbo: A fighter game. Similar to earlier Street Fighter II games with more characters like Cammy, Fei Long, T.Hawk, and Dee Jay. There is NO loading time between matches. Superb game.

The Speed Rumbler: A top-view driving shooter. You control a land vehicle. Horrible game.

Three Wonders: Its actually 3 games in one. Platform, shooter, and puzzle. The puzzle game is similar to Pengo, you push blocks to crush enemies. The horizontal platform and shooter games are great, the puzzle one decent.

Tiger Road: A horizontal brawler similar to Trojan. Medieval Far-East setting. Good game.

Varth: A futuristic vertical shooter. Good game.

This is a must buy for all REAL gamers. Old school gamers will absolutely love it. Thanks Capcom for making this game!

5.0 out of 5 stars Entertaining Fun, January 30, 2007
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Capcom Classics Collection Volume 2 (Video Game)
Unlike Capcom's Vol. 1 edition jam-packed with popular nostalgic arcades of the early 90's era, Vol. 2 comes across as a bland collection. Skim through the manual at list of classics, only a seldom few will seem recognizable.

That idea may suck how many those are supposed to be classic are unknown. The good part is most of these games you never even played yet even heard of are actually quite fun. There are twenty unique 90's era games off the title menu to choose from. Anybody can ease right into any game because the interface is intuitive enough for your grandmother to play without needing advice. One critical downside, the playstation 2 controller can be a strain on the hands when attempting to get accurate movement of your game character.

More important you may be surprised by the longevity with some of these classics as hours run off your day. Therefore, this collection will take its toll on your fingers as well.

There are some very cool features in this collection and one worth noting is infinite game play. That bonus allows unskilled gamers or those who rather burn through levels to join right in the explosive 2D action. The unveiled, refined graphics shine, but as for the music don't expect an update because Capcom kept the original sound intact and that's good news for retro fans that may remember what they played in the past decade.

Virtually a 20 game arcade on one small disc for enjoyment on the PS2 or 3!!! Being a Black Tiger fan I was in video game heaven when this game was released!!! Heck, I bought a PS2 and a PSP also, just to play Black Tiger again, and you can even pick the number of lives and difficulty, just try doing that on the arcade original, well you can't!!! A boatload of positive memories!!! the other 19 games are a hoot as well,Strider,Captain Commando,Block Block(it's sort of like Super Breakout or Arkanoid, and is just as fun!),Magic Sword,King Of Dragons(my nephew Trey's favorite, but he likes Black Tiger as well!),Knights of The Round,Quiz and Dragons(you need your thinking cap for this one!),Three Wonders and many more!!! An awesome bargain for the money!!!Two Thumbs Up,Way Up!!! Five stars!!! A+

5.0 out of 5 stars This one tops all classic arcade compilations released for ps2, November 20, 2006

This review is from: Capcom Classics Collection Volume 2 (Video Game)
I own all of the classic compilations released for ps2 (Namco Museum,Taito Legends, Midway Arcade Treasures 1-3, Atari Anthology, Intellivison lives!, Sega Genesis Classics, Capcom Classics Collection Vol. 1)...Hands down,Capcom Classics Collection Vol. 2 is THE most entertaining and the most timeless, and definately the most fun. This game is worth a whole lot more than the release price. I recomend this game to anyone who shelled out countless quarters in arcades back in the 80' and 90's,..i promise, you'll be in arcade heaven. Don't let this one get away.

5.0 out of 5 stars Black Tiger & Other Games from the Capcom Classics Collection Volume 2, May 6, 2007
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Capcom Classics Collection Volume 2 (Video Game)
My Daughter & I bought the Capcom Classics Collection Volume 2 because I wanted the Black Tiger game that I use to play during lunch at the local arcade in the Ohio Center in the Hyatt Regency in Columbus, OH when it first came out back in the 80's!

I could only find this game in the Ohio Center and I found one in an arcade on the River Walk in San Antonio, Texas near the Marriott Hotel.

The Ohio Center arcade removed the game because when a few of my friends became so good at Black Tiger that they could play for 1 quarter for 1.5 hours to win the game (which made it unprofitable for the arcade owner)! I and my friends were at the Ohio Center arcade when the arcade manager was removing the Black Tiger game from the arcade! The manager reported that Black Tiger was "most unprofitable game that he had ever had... even though it was the Most Profitable game in the beginning!"

One of my friends, Bob (who is Very Good with Computers and played Black Tiger Very Well), knew how sad and displeased I was when the game was removed that he remarked "in about 20 years you will probably be able to play Black Tiger at home on your TV! Bob was right!

I was Very Surprised and Very Happy : ) to find this game at Amazon.com and that a group of people in this world were intelligent enough to remember it so that I could order this game and share it with my 4 kids and their friends! Also, that we could play Black Tiger (and the other games) at our own learning level and pace!

My kids and their friends also find Black Tiger Very Challenging and like it Very Much! They also like the other games Very Much as well!

However, I will remain focused on Black Tiger until I can win the game by sluing all the dragons and be the Hero to rescue the princess and conquering all evil and restoring the Happy Glorious Kingdom!

Thank You Everybody for Your Fine Efforts who made this Possible!!! It is important to retain historic games for future generations so that they can understand more fully(i.e., or 3D) how the games, graphics, plots, and the technologies have developed and progressed to arrive to current and future games as well as to educate and entertain all of us (and future generations) in the future!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Old-School Collection, July 25, 2010

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Capcom Classics Collection Volume 2 (Video Game)
This is a GREAT collection of old arcade games that reminds me of the times when I used to take my little brother to various arcades(which no longer exist) during the mid 90's. Not all games here are "classics" in the strictest sense, but I like having a wide variety of old arcade games in my collection.

In addition to the 20 plus games there are various unlockables and extras. Each game has it's own page with "history", "tips", "art", and "music". Most of the unlockables are under Art/Music. There is also a SSF2 Tutorial broken up into Beginner, Intermediate, and Expert. I know this stuff can be found on the internet but it's nice to have it included nonetheless.

Most games are from the mid 80's to the early 90's. Many are side-scrollers and a few are shooters, typical of the time period. While I don't play this collection that much anymore I like having it handy in case I have a bout of nostalgia. Terrific collection for old-school gamers, Capcom style.

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)

This review is entirely subjective. I purchased CCC V2 purely for one reason: Black Tiger. This was one of my favorite arcade games during my teens and forgot the name for years. Once I finally recalled it, I found and purchased it the same day for PS2. I was finally able to accomplish what I never did in the 80's: finish the game. High score: 935,000. I don't know how the record can possibly be over 2,000,000.

If you know clues to breaking 1,000,000 or more, please let me know.

This review is from: Capcom Classics Collection Volume 2 (Video Game)
This game and all the games on the disc are addictive! I spent hours playing this game, ironically, the most addicting game was the "Quiz & Dragons". The only way this game isn't pure perfection was because it's missing the following:
Saturday Night Slam Masters 1&2
Alien vs. Predator
Punisher
Beyond those 4 games, pure heaven.

3.0 out of 5 stars Capcom Classics Collection Volume 2, February 7, 2009

This review is from: Capcom Classics Collection Volume 2 (Video Game)
Capcom Classics Collection Volume 2, is the second collection of games from Capcom's history released for the Playstation 2. The games that are included in this collection are: 1941: Counter Attack, Avengers, Black Tiger, Block Block, Captain Commando, Eco Fighters, The King of Dragons, Knights of the Round, Last Duel, Magic Sword, Mega Twins, Quiz & Dragons, Side Arms, Street Fighter, Strider, Super Street Fighter II: Turbo, The Speed Rumbler, Three Wonders, Tiger Road, and Varth. Where the first collection contained a bit more actual classics then filler, the second installment suffers from the problem of there being too much filler in the collection. As for the games themselves, they are each ported to the Playstation 2 very nicely and many of them look and feel as I remember them. Overall this collection is worth pickiing-up purely for the few classics that are included and being able to play these games again, even if it does mean wading through a large ammount of sub-par games.

This review is from: Capcom Classics Collection Volume 2 (Video Game)
This game has pretty good graphics and over 20 different games on it. A lot of the games on it are medieval and are a lot alike but they are fun. There are also fighting games on this too that are fun. My favorite games on this are, Street Fighter, Street Fighter 2 turbo fighting, Captain Commando, Knights of the Round, King of Dragons and Three Wonders. Block Block is kind of stupid and I don't know if it is black tiger or tiger road but that game is lame and hard. I wish that there were interviews or clips on here like other compilations/arcade games had. If you are looking for other compilation/arcade games look for my reviews on... Taito Legends 1, Midway Arcade Treasures 1-3, Intellivision Lives, and Atari Anthology. Reviews Coming soon... Namco Museum 50th anniversary, Capcom Classics Collection Volume 1, Taito Legends 2 and Sega Classics Collection and/or Sega Genesis Collection.
