About the Artist

Since Hi, How Are You Today was released in 1995 selling half a million copies worldwide, including a Triple Platinum Canadian certification, stories about Ashley MacIsaac have been told and re-told so many times that it’s impossible to tell the factual from the fictional. He has remained at the forefront of the Canadian psyche, recording and touring all over Canada, Europe, the US and Australia. Earlier this year Linus Entertainment signed Ashley for the world, and is digitally re-mastering and re-issuing his catalogue, prior to releasing a new studio album in early 2005.

Product Description

The beautiful sounds of traditional Christmas songs with an East Coast Ashley twist. First released in 1993 and unavailable for the past two years, A Cape Breton Christmas – Special Edition is being re-issued by Linus Entertainment, digitally re-mastered and repackaged with new Artwork. It features Ashley MacIssac on Violin & Piano, Producer Scott Macmillan on guitar & keyboard sequencing, Aurelie Cormier on vocals, Jim Faraday on percussion, Jeff Macdonald on vocals and Alan MacKenzie on pipes.

5.0 out of 5 stars A musical trip to Nova Scotia, January 11, 2008

This review is from: A Cape Breton Christmas [IMPORT] (Audio CD)
It is now 12 days after Christmas, and I'm still listening to this CD in my car. While there are traditional tunes included, there are enough that are unfamiliar that are beautiful, and not over done so that I want to keep listening. I think that might be a clue that I should investigate more from Ashley MacIsaac! Traditionally, I am a fan of bluegrass, but at a recent festival I was "turned on" to the Cape Breton sound. This was a blind choice in this genre and as it turns out, an excellent one. The fiddle work and complimentary accompaniment is just remarkable, and lo and behold...I hear the pipes. Surprises with every song, and ones that leave you humming along, tapping your toes, and wanting more.
