Conservation of antique brass items,
By However, this polish is unsutable for ormolu and faux ormolu finishes. These finishes are meant to maintain a matt appearence and Cape Cod is so good that it will reduce the original finish to an unintended shine.

This review is from: Cape Cod Polish 8821 Polishing Cloth (Tools & Home Improvement)
I had a number of expensive watches, but I was wearing them less and less because the bands were looking worn. I tried to polish them with something around the house, but with mediocre results. I kept reading about the Cape Cod Polish on the Internet and gave it a shot. Brought all of my watches back to new condition by removing scratches and making the metal shine. Also worked great on my wife's jewelry. The smell is pleasant. The polish is a little oily, so I use plastic gloves (not a big deal if you just want to use bare hands). I use the pink, Cape Cod cloth to polish all around the watch and then a small Dremel with a polishing pad to really bring out the shine. I finish off with a stiff-bristle brush to get polish out of the nooks and crannies. Highly recommended.
