Conservation of antique brass items,
By However, this polish is unsutable for ormolu and faux ormolu finishes. These finishes are meant to maintain a matt appearence and Cape Cod is so good that it will reduce the original finish to an unintended shine.

I had a number of expensive watches, but I was wearing them less and less because the bands were looking worn. I tried to polish them with something around the house, but with mediocre results. I kept reading about the Cape Cod Polish on the Internet and gave it a shot. Brought all of my watches back to new condition by removing scratches and making the metal shine. Also worked great on my wife's jewelry.
The smell is pleasant. The polish is a little oily, so I use plastic gloves (not a big deal if you just want to use bare hands). I use the pink, Cape Cod cloth to polish all around the watch and then a small Dremel with a polishing pad to really bring out the shine. I finish off with a stiff-bristle brush to get polish out of the nooks and crannies. Highly recommended.

Not So Good, But OK for Light Cleaning,

If you have silverware that needs a quick, light cleaning or dusting, this would be OK, but for gold, silver, brass, aluminum, metal that is lightly tarnished, it does not work well at all. I had to rub really hard to try and remove light tarnish & it still didn't remove all the spots. Also, if you do use these, wear rubber gloves because it takes scrubbing your hands to get the smell and oil off of you. They smell OK (like mineral oil) but they are messy!

I use these to polish stainless steel and they work great. A few notes:-they do have a strong (but pleasant) odor, so I recommend using them in a well-ventilated area -use them on polished metal surfaces, NOT brushed metal surfaces. These cloths take off a fine layer of metal as you rub and can remove a brushed finish in no time. -I recommend wearing plastic gloves when using them as the stuff in the cloth will get all over your hands which I'm not sure is a good thing Easy to use, highly recommended.

The BEST!!!!,

I can't say enough positive about the Cape Cod Polishing Cloths. I used them to polish the shiny areas of my TAG Heuer and to do a final polish on the shiny areas of a vintage Zenith I am restoring. A couple of warnings however: 1) The product does contain petroleum distillates, therefore you will want to avoid using it on a watch case because the seals can degrade, compromizing the water resistance. Perfect for the band however, or very carefully on the case using a Q-tip soaked in the CC "juice", then blotted, then avoid the seals as much as possible. Also, rinse everything soon afterwards. 2) CC cloths WILL remove gold plating - AVOID on plated surfaces altogether. Take care!

really disappointed,

Lemon juice cleans brass and copper better than these cloths. And also found
them useless on silver. You will, however, burn off a lot of calories polishing and polishing, without success, in attempt to get these metals clean.

I bought this cloth because I had some watches that needed scratches buffed out and I could not find a jeweler to do it. Lucky for me because with this cloth I not only got one watch looking good but all of my watches look almost new. Highly recommend this product and this is coming from a guy who hardly reviews any of my online purchases.

The Cape Cod Polishing cloths work really good. I used the cloths on all my silver and gold, and it shines like brand new.
Make sure you keep the cloths sealed in the case; so they wont dry up, and if they do put a little vegetable oil on them. They work good as new. The price was good, and got the product faster than expected. From now on I will use Cape Cod Polish |
