Davern makes new Braff CD a Must, August 21, 2000

Matt Domber's Arbors Records has another Ruby Braff hit with this CD, not only because of the ageless cornetist's wonderful style but also because of some great solos by clarinetist Kenny Davern. And if Davern's presence isn't enough, tenor saxophonist Tommy Newsom comes along for the ride on 10- to 15-minute versions of "My Melancholy Baby," "Love Is Just Around the Corner" and "If Dreams Come True." John Bunch (p), Howard Alden (g), Michael Moore (b) and Kenny Washington (d) provide the all the rhythm the front liners need.
