Professor NIGEL WORDEN has a long association with the History Department at the University of Cape Town. He is well known for his book, Slavery in Dutch South Africa.

Dr. ELIZABETH VAN HEYNINGEN is Professor of History at the University of Cape Town. She received acclaim for her co-edition of The Letters of Dr Jane Waterson, 1868-1905.

Dr. VIVIAN BICKFORD-SMITH teaches in the History Department at the University of Cape Town. She authored the book Ethnic Pride and Racial Prejudice in Victorian Cape Town. --This text refers to an alternate Paperback edition.
