The Brassworks Band made its public debut at the 1983 Dickens Christmas Fair. It represented the joining of forces of Frank Beau Davis, whose Brassworks Variety Brass Quintet had just started earlier that year as the Strolling Brass at Great America Amusement Park, and drummer David Miles, whose experience with the Pips Orchestra and Micawbers Brass Band at several previous Dickens Fairs helped make The Brassworks an instant hit with the dancing public. The Brassworks has been a popular attraction at other Living History events, such as the Old California Days, Old San Francisco and Gold Rush Fairs. The Band performs for period dance events all over Northern California, including the National Civil War Associations annual Blue-Grey Ball, the Monterey & Benicia Grand Balls, San Juan Bautistas Fandango Ball, and Stanford Universitys Vintage Dance Week, where the Band works with famed dance master Richard Powers. The Brassworks Band is featured six times a year at the very popular series of Ye Gaskells Victorian Balls in Oaklands magnificent Scottish Rite Ballroom. As of November 1998, The Brassworks Band has started a new series of Waltz Evenings at Ashkenaz Music & Dance Community Center in Berkeley. The Band's other CD, "The Congress of Vienna", is available in the Classical Music category. To contact The Brassworks, please send email to Brassworks@earthlink.net.
