One of his under appreciated works,

Robert Kirkman has been the architect and writer for numerous comics that are incredably good, and more than a few have reached cult status and critical acclaim, Walking Dead and Invincible being his true claims to fame. However Kirkman often is also the producer of very interesting, entertaining, high superhero genre, and above all things "fun!" comics, that are totally missed by the larger community, Marvel Team up and AntMan being the most noticable and collected by me in particular, Capes falls into this later catagory.
Numerous characters with origins and abilities ranging from the standard to the contrived run throughout, the book is both a parody of superheroes and a fresh line up of them, the main villians are vicious and powerful, and the culmination of the heroes in action is turbulent, the humor is great, but not over powering, and the book is clever. I bought it, I'd buy a sequal of it, and do to it being in the underappreciated catagory sequals being unlikely, I recomend people just buy this and hope that they enjoy it.

Capes is a super hero group on the city payroll. A motley group of heroes that punches time cards, gets health benefits, overtime and works on shifts like most other jobs. But there job happens to be keeping the city safe from any number of super baddies that are wreaking havoc this week. This series has much more humor than Invincible, but is not overly silly. Reminds me of a lot of Erik Larsen work. A little over the top and some fun visuals. This trade collects the 3 issue mini series and the 72 pages of back up story that appeared in the Invincible comic. I really hope to see the return of Capes in one way or another, it was a fun book with a lot of stories still to tell.
