Attactive Dance Shoe; Not For Wide Width Feet,
By
This review is from: Capezio Women's 551 Leather Jr. Footlight Character Shoe (Apparel)
Over twenty years ago, I wore black leather Capezio shoes (taps removed for ballroom dancing,) looked similiar to the Jr. Footlight Character shoe. Now as a senior, I bought the Jr. Footlight shoes to return to ballroom dancing. Thanks to advice in another review of these shoes, I bought a size up (from 7 1/2W) to 8W, believing this would give me a better fit for my toes and balls of my feet.
When the shoes arrived, I tried them on. The advice on ordering a 1/2 size up was correct & good advice. However, I have high arched feet, & the 1/2 size up in length, shoe construction lacked foot arch support. If you have high arched feet, buy arch supports to insert in these shoes for better support. Though these shoes are padded throughout with soft knit material like velveteen, & a soft cushion for normal arch, I deducted a star from the shoes' rating due to fitting problems. If you have an average sized female foot, these shoes should fit your feet. However, I have developed wide feet with age. The "W" sizing of these shoes didn't fit my "W" width feet. Sadly, I returned the shoes. My wish: Capezio Women's Sr. (wider width "WW") Footlight Character shoes in all colors of Jr. Until that release, I will be looking for my ballroom dancing shoes else where.

This is my second pair of Capezio shoes. My first lasted over 15 years. These are the most comfortable shoes I own. Besides dancing they are great for business or anytime you need a comfortable dress shoe. Definitely recommend.

I just started dance this year, at the age of 50, and Love it! These shoes, which are required by the director, are incorrectly sized. I wear a 81/2 but these were way too small; length and width. I do wish someone out there would develop good fitting dance shoes that don't require your foot to become deformed. I do not believe ill fitting shoes for dance is necessary. I am a foot reflexologist by trade and see mis-treated feet often. I have worked to bring my feet/body into wellness and therefore will not tolerate ill fitting shoes, even for a "sport" that I love. Of recent I went to a dance store and tried on several different styles. It is my assesment that the 231 shoe conforms to my feet the best. Good luck to you out there to find shoes that work for you not against you.

Dancin' shoes,

I ordered these shoes a half size larger than my street size and they fit perfectly. Originally I ordered a whole size larger, as the reviews suggested, but had to return them because they were too large. I've had four dance classes in these shoes so far and they are quite comfortable and cute!
