After many reviews on size, I went with a half size larger for my daughter and it worked. She is a "true" 7.5 wide in stride rite shoes (she almost could wear a double wide shoe) and the 8 wide was a good fit. There is NO ways she could have worn a non-wide shoe as a dance store had suggested (they encouraged her to wear a 9 to "make up" for the fact that her feet were wide). She probably would have been fine in a 8.5 Wide with some growing room, but I'm happy with the 8. Hope this helps someone!

Love this shoe. Wanted something my 5 year old daughter could put on herself, would hold up and would be approved by her dance studio. This shoe fit the bill. The velcro strap is great, seem to be well made and the taps will not breakdown the dance floor like some of the less expensive shoes. So glad I purchased these shoes.

Well with a name like Capezio you expect quailty and that's exactly what we got. I didn't dance as a kid but my girlfriend did and I remembered that she really liked Capezio and now I see why! The quality is fantastic, the fit is great and I love that my daughter can put her dance shoes on by herself. I ordered a 1/2 size larger than her sneakers and it was a perfect fit with a little room to grow.

Love the shoes, nice quality and pretty, but the really should let customers know these shoes run a whole size smaller.

My daughter is 7 years old and I bought 2 sizes larger because she outgrows shoes too quickly. Even 2 sizes larger, it fit well. Deliver was on time.

My 4 year old daughter grew out of her last pair of tap shoes, so I ordered these. I look for two things in a kids' tap shoe - velcro (so she can put them on herself) and plenty of room to grow into (who wants to buy tap shoes 2-3 times a year? Not me.) This one fit the bill. She normally wears a size 7 shoe and has a very narrow foot. I ordered an 8.5 thinking there'd be plenty of room to grow. When they arrived they fit perfectly already, with no room to grow. Next time I will order at least 2 full sizes up. The bows are kind of silly; she likes them, but they constantly fall off. The shoe seems solidly made and has a nicer tap sound than her previous shoes.

I ordered these for my daughter's first tap/ballet class. She has been using them for three months and tap has been her favorite part of dance class. The shoes are very cute with a Velcro strap that fastens so they can put them on themselves. They have little pink flowers in the inside which makes them even more adorable. My daughter was wearing a size 8 toddler shoes and I ordered a 9 1/2. I am glad that I went up in size though a 9 would have been better. These shoes are darling and I would definitely buy this shoe again. The one negative I would have to write is on the bows. They clip on but really don't stay on well.

The shoes are adorable, and it doesn't show in the picture but also comes with two clip-on patent leather bows. Not sure if the bows are for the shoe or for the hair. In any case, I took a couple of stars off because, even though I got a size 8.5, it fit more like an 8, so they won't last as long. I needed them right away, so I didn't even bother to return them.

I read through all of the reviews before purchasing these tap shoes. Many people noted that the shoes ran very small and to go up 1 to 2 sizes. People even noted that going up 1.5 sizes were a perfect fit, with no room to grow. I printed off a shoe size measuring foot from Amazon and measured my 3 year old daughter and then went up 2 sizes since my daughter actually will not be taking a tap class until summer, but she wanted a pair of tap shoes to practice/play in now. She was an 8.5 per my measurement. I ordered a 10.5 medium. These are waaay too big for her. You can see the cracks of her toes and her toes almost look like they are going to come out the top of the shoe. I worry about her twisting her ankle in the shoes since they are too big and tap shoes can be slippery, especially on our ceramic tile floor. It is also very difficult for her to tap in them because she cannot bend her foot since they are so large. She wants to wear them, so I really have to tighten the Velcro strap down. She will grow into them eventually, but I am going to purchase another pair 1 size smaller (which is 1 size up from her measured foot size), which I anticipate will still be a little big according to how big this pair is, but with some room to grow. She is petite and does not have "thick" feet, so I went with the medium and they seem fine width wise.
I normally do not like to buy shoes online because it is so hard to get the fit right the first time. I did order these online for a couple of reasons: 1. They were so much cheaper than ordering directly from Capezio ($42) 2. Our closest dance store is approx. 30 minutes away and they tried to tell me that this shoe is not made in black patent leather, despite me telling them that they are and that I had seen them on both Amazon and the Capezio website. They told me that they had the tan and they were the same price as the Capezio website. I considered going over there just to try the tan on for sizing, but who knows if they would have had medium and wide width and several sizes in stock.
I would definitely purchase these shoes again. I love the Velcro strap as my daughter can easily put them on herself. If you have a dance store near to your home, I would take a trip over and try them on for size since it seems like the reviews are all over the board, unless you don't mind making returns. In our case, I could have purchased her current shoe size and they would have probably been a perfect fit, but with little growing room. I would recommend going up 1 size per our experience.

My 6 year old wears a size 1. I got these in a 1.5 and they are a little big but still work and she has the room to grow. I would not go more than a 1/2 size up. Has cute bows that are removable if you don't like bows.
