Product Description

From the Manufacturer

Salvatore Capezio was born in 1871 in Muro Lucano, Italy. Uninterested in following in his father's footsteps as a construction engineer, he became an artist of his own right, a cobbler. In 1887, at the age of 17, he opened his shop on Broadway and 39th Street, diagonally across from the old Metropolitan Opera House in New York City. Soon, the shop became a meeting place for dancers who would stop by to discuss their needs and to get a pair of his shoes. As Capezio's popularity grew, dancers from around the world made it a point to visit him and purchase his shoes.  The innovation of the products that Salvatore Capezio created and the camaraderie he shared with the dancers molded the direction that his company would follow. In this image, the Capezio brand was established to promote and recognize ongoing achievements and participation in dance.  Capezio products remain in the forefront in quality and in technological advances with innovations like the split-sole, the stretch-insert, the Dansneaker and the Tapsneaker. Capezio believes that their success is dependent upon the individual commitment of each customer to continually set new standards of creativity and performance, while preserving a reputation for dependability and distinction. Capezio pledges their support and dedication to the advancement of dance, theater and recreation in communities worldwide.

Product Description

Capezio®'s "Pirouette" shoe consists of Second Skin leather with Lycra® and features a supple suede sole that has been crafted and stitched to the upper in the most streamlined manner allowing for a "seamless" feel and improved fit. A tonal Capezio® C is embossed on the upper and the Capezio® signature can be found on the soft elastic binding. This versatile shoe is suitable for many disciplines of dance including lyrical, ballet and contemporary dance.

The Pirouette is the most advanced and a step above the competition. Designed with movement in mind, the Pirouette embraces classic design and employs the latest technology. Second Skin Leather with Lycra® creates a wonderfully soft and mobile shoe and allows for full toe articulation. A soft elastic binding keeps the shoe in place without pinching. One-sized Capezio® plush elastic is attached as the primary elastic with secondary elastics attached under the arch. The elastics are attached so that each user may customize how the shoe is worn. Designed for the rhythmic gymnast, this shoe is a perfect crossover for lyrical, ballet, contemporary dance, gym, body movement, yoga and Pilates. This shoe is also the perfect answer for scholastic programs that prohibit open toed shoes on their stages and in their classes.

1.0 out of 5 stars Run very small!! Seller wants too much money for return., April 22, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Capezio Women's H06 Pirouette Lyrical/Modern Shoe (Apparel)
I bought these according to the size chart online. I wear an 8.5 and bought the Medium (8-9.5) and expected them to fit. When I tried them on, they were too tight and the elastic was too short (barely reached the back of my heel). I emailed the seller and they said that they would exchange it but I had to pay to send them back and send a check for $5.95 for shipping back a new size. I'm going to give them away because I don't want to spend 50% of the cost of the shoe to exchange it. The seller should let people know that you should get the next size up. Very disappointed. I am going to reorder the large size from [...]. They will ship it in two days (not one week) and if they don't fit, I can ship them back for free and exchange them for free.

3.0 out of 5 stars nice product, but not durable, August 11, 2009
By
I use this product once per week for one hour each time, and I now I need a 2nd pair! The slippers started to wear through after the first class. We were not even CLOSE to Pointe, but the top of the toes were wearing thin. After just one class! I will say though, they are much better than the little toe sandals. They stay on very well and are very comfortable. I just do not like it that they just seem like they will fall apart very soon. I don't want to purchase one for every other class! But again, they are very comfortable and they are better than the sandals. I just wish that they were more durable...

3.0 out of 5 stars dancer wanted to cover my toes, March 13, 2008
I don't know why I wanted a half shoe over a whole shoe, but it was what I was looking for. I was thrilled when I found it, but followed the ordering suggestion of a medium for size 9. I thought because they were leather they would stretch out... well they hurt my toes. And I can't return them because I have worn them to multiple classes trying to get used to them and let them "stretch". So i have to sink another 20 bucks into another pair, but with money being tight and this only being my hobby, I will have to wait.
