With all the stuff you read about in today's world, it tends to make this book non-fiction!

I've read a few of Rochelle Alers books in the past and absolutely loved them! I tend to get really wrapped up in a book, so it's not too difficult to read it one setting, especially if it's a great book. I ended up reading this book in one sitting, and at the end I felt incomplete. It wasn't a bad book at all, I just wished the characters had more dimension and weren't so flat. Some portions felt so forced, including the ending. I was along for the ride, but when I got to the end I was disappointed. Alers didn't really wrap up the characters and we never even find out what happened to Marisol's husband while she was out of town. It's like she just quickly moved on and summed up all the characters lives; it just didn't work in my opinion.

Overall it's a pretty good read, but at the end you will be feeling like you want more from the characters. The story has hits and misses, but the characters engage you enough with their drama and "Capital Wives" lifestyle. It's worth checking out if you like Alers previous work, just be warned you might want a little more in the end.

Capital Wives is another "out of the park" home run for Ms. Alers and her fans! All of the characters are attention-getting and Keeping. Two of the men I just wanted shake some common sense into, all three women were awesome in her own way. And I just loved the love and protection Damon offered to his wive and her friends. Although early on I wanted to shake him too, but he quickly redeemed himself. Absolutely excellent storytelling, again!!!! Three couples and six individual stories. A lot was going on in this book, and Ms. Alers wove them well together. Capital Wives was most definitely worth the wait. I read it three nights. I would have taken two nights, if not for mandatory sleep overtaking me.

I enjoyed this book. It was an easy read. The female characters were initially well written and easy to sympathize with, but the author left way too many storylines dangling. The author fave us just enough time in Bryce MacDonald's head for me to be confused when he suddenly turned into an abuser. Also, what exactly happened with the insider blog? Did Bethany get her revenge? What happened to the women she wrote about? And how was the sudden transformation of her stepdaugher (who had been described as "devil spawn") taken about? There were a few paragraphs in the stepdaughters head, a couple of conversations and then all of a sudden things are great at home. Deanna finds out her husband cheated on her repeatedly, demands money to start a new life and then forgives him. Where is the emotional payoff? The difficulty with forgiveness? While the setup to the troubles these women were having in the beginning of the book was very well done, the climax and resolution left a lot to be desired. Personally, I like a book that ties up the loose ends and this one leaves several dangling. It also takes you from point A to point M with little or no explanation as to the whys of the character development.

It took me a minute to get into it. But, once I kept reading the stories just started to explode. Marisol, Deanna and Bethany turned out to be strong women as well as good friends. I loved the loyalty that Bethany's husband (Damon) showed to his wife's friends.

Rochelle Alers is one of my favorite authors and I must admit I did enjoy Capital Wives. The friendship that was formed, the marriages that made it or fell apart were quite interesting. I must admit I wanted more on Marisol's story as I felt something was still missing at the end. However, all in all, I read this book in one sitting, it kept me interested and I can't wait for the next book by Ms. Alers!!!

I hadn't read anything by the author but enjoy stories about Washington and its people and stories. The characters didn't have enough to them so that I could keep them straight. It was almost the end of the book before I could put the right husband with the right wife. I don't think women, who love their husbands, have affairs just because the opportunity presents itself and what happily married woman allows another man to hold her hand and breathe into her hair while whispering sexual things. Most women would have just gotten out of the car and gone home. Just too farfetched for me.

Oh my such a good read! These books I have taken on my cruises to read while vacationing. Get's you from beginning. The prices to buy a slighted used book is incredible. Am I going to buy new ones for just my vacations but also my home? Heck yeah! Best thing since sliced bread!!
