Book Description

Capitalism, Socialism and Democracy remains one of the greatest works of social theory written this century. When it first appeared the New English Weeklypredicted that `for the next five to ten years it will cetainly remain a work with which no one who professes any degree of information on sociology or economics can afford to be unacquainted.' Fifty years on, this prediction seems a little understated.

5.0 out of 5 stars Every economists should read it. May 17, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Fundamental for the understanding of the dynamics of capitalist economic development. Complementary reading to Max's Capital and Keynes' General Theory of Employment, Interest and Money. A classical in the field.

5.0 out of 5 stars Kindle edition - now I can read this book March 31, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This is a popular classic. However it is hard to get at the library and the print on the Harper edition was too small. Now I can read the book and highlight text. I love the adjustable text size feature on my Kindle.

4.0 out of 5 stars Economics for Deep Thinkers May 4, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Unless you are well studied in economic thought over the past 200 years you will find this pretty deep -- I did, and for a non-economist it is a book that will take time to digest. Free Market economics well thought out, but heavy reading for me. I can't say I "enjoyed" it, only that it took me to ideas I had not fully thought out. IMO, Milt Friedman is a much easier read, but Schumpeter is a classic free market economist.
