From Library Journal
This directory is essentially encyclopedic and discographic, providing biographic data on individuals along with a register of their recordings; much of the information is not available elsewhere. A political and discographic summary covers the various countries, with popular idioms discussed (though definitions are not always clear-cut); photographs and maps enhance the proceedings. Though there is an index, it is not as comprehensive as the subject merits. Since this music is no longer a local phenomenon but is gaining followers in England, France, Germany, and the United States, this introduction is important for all music collections.Dominique-Rene de Lerma, Morgan State Univ., Baltimore
