They nearly thought of everything...,
By A Customer
This review is from: Capresso 437.01 Elegance 8-Cup Digital Thermal Coffeemaker, Black (Kitchen)
This machine seemed like it had everything I was looking for: a water filter, a gold coffee filter, a timer, and a thermal carafe. It does have all those things and it makes excellent coffee. I LOVE waking up and having my coffee already made. However, there are silly little drawbacks like the fact that it's very hard to tell how much water you're putting in, the carafe cannot be placed on the burner unless it is partially open (to allow the coffee in while brewing, I suppose), and it doesn't stay as hot as I would like. Not bad, you can adapt to these things, but I had hoped for a little smarter design for this price. I didn't have the trouble with quality other reviewers have mentioned. It seems perfectly well made. If Capresso reads these reviews and makes some small modifications, it will be a perfect coffeemaker.

not quite as great as reviewed,
By A Customer
This review is from: Capresso 437.01 Elegance 8-Cup Digital Thermal Coffeemaker, Black (Kitchen)
This coffee maker makes wonderful, arromatic coffee and the timer feature is convenient. The water filtration system works great.Potential problems are with the cafafe- if not inserted into the unit correctly, spillage can occur. This is also a problem if the swing-out filter door is not fully closed. Your coffee will be on the floor. The only other complaint I have is the cafafe will not store in the unit while the carafe lid is closed. Not space saving in a small kitchen.

My Best Coffee Maker Ever!,

I am sitting here drinking a great cup of coffee as I write this review. We have used this coffee maker for over two years now. It makes the best pot of coffee of any coffee maker we have ever had. It is very good at keeping the coffee hot. We ordered a second carafe and that way we can have two pots of coffee going when we have company. The only problem that I experienced was easily corrected. The filter door did pop open. I lifted out the coffee basket and on the bottom was a drip valve. Without going through all the explanation, it was this part that caused the door to open. It was easy to remove the offending part. This drip valve is only necessary if you remove the carafe to get a cup of coffee before the coffee making cycle is finished. For me, this was not a big thing to give up. To remove the part, place the coffee basket upside down on the kitchen table and unsnap the drip valve. The part will be obvious; there are no tools required. Problem solved! We use filtered water to make coffee; thus we don't worry about the charcoal filter. I don't believe most people change that filter as often as is necessary anyway. As a last comment, we tested paper filters and permanent gold filter baskets. We found the filter that works best is the Melitta Natural Brown #4 paper filter. It is head and shoulders above the rest.

this maker ROCKS (that means its great, baby),

After a couple of bad experiences (they both needed repair after a few uses) with two very reputable coffee maker brands, I decided to chunk them both and order the Capresso. I'm sure glad because this maker is heads and tails above the others. The carafe keeps the coffee piping hot for hours (believe me I tested it) and seals in the flavor at the same time (unlike makers that rely on a burner to keep the coffee warm, but alter the flavor). The goldtone filter and water filter work great. This is the best coffeemaker I've ever owned and would highly recommend it to anyone serious about their java.

Nice Idea, Cheaply Made,

This review is from: Capresso 437.01 Elegance 8-Cup Digital Thermal Coffeemaker, Black (Kitchen)
I purchased the coffee maker because I hate the taste of coffee after it has been on the burner for too long. I am very disappointed that after one week, the internal plastic component that allows you to take the pot out while brewing, broke off. Not too long after that, the carafe leaked.

Dissapointing quality,

This coffemaker makes a good cup of coffee, but is poorly designed and cheaply made. After using the machine for a week, the filter basket mechanism just fell apart in my hands. I ordered another one, and it fell apart within a week also. Now, the machine keeps dying for no reason and I have to fiddle with it to get it to work. Enough! Back to a Braun!

A great cup of coffee,

I got this coffee maker for Christmas and I think this is the best drip coffee maker ever. I like the fact that it has a separate water tank that removes to fill, instead of the usual filling the carafe and pouring it into the tank. I don't use the gold filter that came with the coffee maker since I prefer the convenience of the disposable paper filters. I also don't use the optional water filter since I like the taste of the tap water in my town. I had been using a French Press coffee maker for many years and I still use it occasionally, but I like the fact that the drip doesn't leave grit in the bottom of my cup.

the greatest coffee maker ever,

This machine makes great coffee. People look at me like I'm nuts when I express my enthusiasm for this machine. Grind up some Peet's and you can't miss! Nice features include a timer so you can wake up to fresh brewed coffee. It has a removable water tank, so it's easy to fill. It also has a removable coffee filter cup, so it's easy to clean. You'll need to buy a big pack of special charcoal water filters if you want to filter chlorine out of the water, because they only last about 2 months.

I read many reviews of this product and they were varied. Because I had owned a different model in the past, I decided to go ahead and purchase this smaller model. I believe that the company made some alterations after some of the older reviews were written.. The crafe on my model has a big opening for cleaning and pours easily. Also, I have no problems getting it located in the machine properly, nor had any accidental spilling. The only complaint that I have is that it is a little difficult to measure the water accurately and that it doesn't hold more than 8 cups. The markings are on the inside of the tank. This machine is great if you want 5-8 cups of coffee.

a wonderful coffee maker,
By A Customer
This review is from: Capresso 437.01 Elegance 8-Cup Digital Thermal Coffeemaker, Black (Kitchen)
This is a wonderful coffeemaker. The design features are excellent. The coffee brews and stays much warmer than with other carafe makers I have owned. This is due to being able to brew with the lid on and almost fully closed (because of this feature, you cannot store the carafe in the coffeemaker with the lid fully closed, but unless your kitchen space is extremely limited, this shouldn't be a problem). Although some other reviews mentioned quality problems, my coffemaker was extremely well built and has given me no problems. I would highly recommend this maker to anyone who enjoys a well-brewed cup of coffee!
