5.0 out of 5 stars Great product
We like good, dark, fresh coffee. We used a conical burr grinder and basic coffee maker for year, putting up with the mess of transferring grinds. Our reason for a grind and brew was primarily for cleanliness. The desire for a conical burr grinder limited our choices.

This review is from: Capresso 46405 464.05 Coffeeteam Gs 10-cup Digital Coffeemaker With Conical Burr Grinder Plus Two (2) Coffee Mugs
We like good, dark, fresh coffee. We used a conical burr grinder and basic coffee maker for year, putting up with the mess of transferring grinds. Our reason for a grind and brew was primarily for cleanliness. The desire for a conical burr grinder limited our choices.

Krups KM7000: Failed our expectations miserably. Amazingly messy! You won't believe it, but the carafe spills when you pour it. Some other reviews said this, but I did not believe it until I ended up with coffee dripping on my counter almost every day unless I poured my cup very, very slowly. The grinds also get all over, as they are open to the air before a lid closes over them. The machine broke. We had to mail it away for repair. Although under warrantee, the shipping was about $20. Then the grinding element stopped working intermittently. We cleaned it over & over, but it was not jammed. We ended up using our old grinder. What a waste! Although it made a good cup of coffee when it worked, it was overall worse than our separate machines. Lasted less than a year.

Capresso 464.05: We LOVE IT!! Our kitchen is away from our bedroom enough that the loud grinding is ok. All burr grinders are somewhat loud. The instructions explain that the long grinding time is to keep the beans from overheating. The grinds are always contained in the machine, so never on my counter. There are less steps to making the coffee than with Krups. You can use paper filters or the gold one they send. Not sure why the directions don't say this. Even the filter has a "handle" so you don't have to reach down into the bottom of the water resevoir to change it like the Krups. We just broke the carafe by accident, and ordering a new one from Capresso took only 3 clicks. The coffee tastes just great!

We have not used the Cuisinart version.

If you are chosing between this machine and the slightly cheaper Krups, this one is worth every extra penny and more.

1.0 out of 5 stars Caution - Burrs not Accessible for Cleaning or Service, July 18, 2010

For some reason Capresso has decided to make all of their all-in-one grinder / brewers with the burr grinders locked away inside where they can not be cleaned, inspected and replaced when needed.

We own a different Capresso CoffeeTeam Grinder / Brewer that uses the same burr set up and finally found all of the hidden screws to remove to allow thorough cleaning of the grinder. The hardest part is figuring out how to dismantle their puzzle. Unfortunately Capresso has also decided to refuse to sell parts for the machine, except for items such as lids and carafes.

Recently our coffee seemed weak. I had just totally cleaned both burrs and everything was as clean as new. I found the problem to be dull burrs which slowed down the grind speed producing less coffee grounds and thus weak coffee. I replaced the burrs with a set from our Capresso 560 grinder and now we've got full strength coffee again.

The problem I now face is that Capresso REFUSES to sell the lower burr, the one that is the dullest. They consider this an internal part. I now have a useless $80 grinder that I sacrificed to save a $300 coffee maker.

I have called Capresso several times trying to find a way to buy a complete burr set and was appalled by the attitude, arrogance and rudeness of the people on the phone that got incensed when I did not happily accept their answer "We do not sell internal parts." They were not helpful at all and worse yet, did not seem to care. I don't think they do, at least not the people I could get in contact with.

We like out CoffeeTeam better than we like the company.

Capresso, very disappointing to deal with.
