Very good unit,

I was leary of spending this much on a grinder. But I really like coffee and noticed that my home brew wasn't quite up to par with Pete's (coffee house where I get my beans). Now my home brew coffee is as good as it is when brewed at Pete's.
Pros: -First and foremost- Coffee tastes better -Convenient bean storage in hopper -Not as loud as blade grinder -Looks good on counter -Consistent grind Cons: -Quality Assurance is questionable. First unit had a defective bean catcher. Second unit has machine mark on body. But the machine mark is cosmetic only and I've kept it.

I purchased my first coffee grinder 20 years ago and have experienced much of the frustration that you read about in the reviews of MOST of the other coffee bean grinders. For some reason coffee grinders are often poorly designed and of horrid quality. Especially the cheap grinders are certainly no bargain. When I read the reviews of the cheap grinders it brings back "flashbacks" of extreme frustration (even some of the pricier units are garbage), noisy, messy and ultimately they break and are chucked into the garbage :-(
Then I bought THIS beautiful burr grinder. This little gem is REALLY different (and infinitely better) than ALL the others. This is an absolutely wonderful coffee grinder in EVERY way. Coffee tastes better -- there is a "night and day" difference in flavor. And hey, if we're going through the trouble of grinding our own beans then what's the point if we don't get the best flavor for our work? Grinders simply don't get any better than this in quality (not at ANY price). I have used this same grinder for a number of years now. It is used every single day, and after years of service it still grinds perfect coffee. It's super quiet. I don't need to worry about waking my children when I grind beans every morning for my wife and I. The unit is super simple to use. It's easy to clean. The grinds are SO much more consistent than the cheaper grinders. The grinds are delivered neatly into a drawer that you can completely remove with ease to place the grounds in your coffee machine (mine is a french press). I also like the large (and attractive) bean hopper that makes it easy to fill in the morning when I'm still half asleep. I like the fact that it grinds the beans without creating heat that cheaper grinders produce (that diminish the flavor of the ground beans in the cheaper grinders). This is an extremely high quality grinder. Very well designed for ease of use. It's also so very easy to keep clean. I've experienced none of the mess of those poorly designed cheapo grinders that create static on the grounds. The machine itself is heavy-duty, (built solid as a rock) and finely crafted to last a lifetime. You don't see many machines crafted with the quality of this grinder. It's also VERY attractive in the kitchen. Small. Compact. Nice style & appearance. Very functional to use. One last thing I DEEPLY appreciate is the fact that the grinds are of consistent size. I use a Bodum french press. The Bodum that I have, has a VERY small size screen on the press that allows me to grind my grounds to a "fine" size on the Capresso 565.03. There isn't the "bean dust" that is created by cheaper grinders (that make them useless for using with a french press). All-in-all if you are looking for a high quality grinder that will last a lifetime, and one that will allow you to enjoy the absolute BEST out of your beans, then look no farther than this wonderful grinder. A finely crafted precision machine in every way!

I own the brushed chrome model, but put my review here as well so everyone could benefit from my experience.
This is a very solid and well-designed grinder. The difference between using one of these and using a cheapo blade-type grinder is huge. Adjustable, consistent ground size is the largest benefit, and here the Capresso does a great job. The adjustment is done by twisting the whole top hopper, and when you do the adjustment there is a satisfying "click" as you move through the settings. There are enough different settings to please the espresso fan as well as the cowboy coffee lover from extra fine to coarse and everywhere in between. There are other benefits though. The upper hopper holds a large supply of your whole beans and there is a tight-fitting lid on top to keep them fresh. You can put in enough for your whole week of coffee drinking. But you don't have to grind more than you need for one day! There is a timer that you turn to control the amount of grounds produced, and after a while you get to where you know just how far to turn it to produce enough ground coffee for your brew. It's not anywhere near as loud as a blade type grinder. The burrs are ceramic and should last forever. The lower hopper for the grounds functions like a drawer, which you pull out to get your coffee. It pulls all the way out, so you can take it right to where you need it. The only complaint I have is that evidently the grinding action creates static charge on the grounds themselves temporarily. So, if you just finished grinding, you may find that the grounds stick to the sides of the lower hopper for a few minutes. Some also stick to the underside of the unit where the top of the drawer scrapes past. This isn't normally a problem, but the top backside of the drawer, as it scrapes past the underside of the opening, will push these charged grounds, and rather than just falling off into the hopper, some will cling to the top and end up stuck to the lower lip of the unit. These grounds then fall onto your countertop. I wonder aloud if there is any way to dissipate the static from a design standpoint, but what works for me if I'm in such a big hurry is to wet my hands before touching the hopper. Alternatively you just grind in advance which eliminates the issue altogether. We use a French Press to make our coffee. The adjustability of this grinder makes it easy to get course coffee grounds that are needed for that style of brew, and I can tell you that when people taste our coffee, they do NOT want to go back to drip. The only problem with French Presses is, even with coursely ground coffee, you always end up with some silt. I eliminate that by pouring the pressed coffee through a little single-serving filter as I'm serving it. Works for me; some people don't seem to mind the silt. Anyhow, before we got this grinder we used the cheapos and ended up with TONS of silt no matter how careful we were not to overgrind. Now we just get a little bit. I will never go back to the cheapo grinders again! This thing's what you need.

Grinds Extra Fine,

I had purchased a new $500 espresso machine and my old grinder would not grind fine enough for a good espresso. On the highest "extra fine" setting (4 settings each level) this grinder grinds too fine, my espresso machince can't force water through the grounds (they are like powder). I then tried the highest "Fine" setting and it is just about right. Still need to experiment some, as of now I'm happy with the unit.

Happy so far.,
This review is from: Capresso 565.03 Infinity Burr Grinder, Polished Chrome (Kitchen)
After using a less expensive, noisy, and hard-to-keep clean Capresso coffee grinder for two years, I was impressed enough by a number of positive reviews to try this one, in the black plastic version (Model 565). It is a solid machine, relatively quiet, and quite clean to operate. The timer is much more user-friendly than that on my former Capresso grinder. Shop around, however, because it can bought for less than $90 on the Internet, free shipping.

Very Large and a Little Messy,

There is nothing really wrong with the Capresso 565.03 Infinity Burr Grinder. However, if you believe that this unit will solve your coffee ground mess problem, you will probably be slightly disappointed. Also, it is a very large item. So, if you have a small kitchen and limited space, it may be a bit on the sizeable side. Functionally, it works great. I love that you can set the grind settings from fine to coarse, turn the dial, and not worry about how long to grind the beans for.

Verry happy - conical burr grinder,

This review is from: Capresso 565.03 Infinity Burr Grinder, Polished Chrome (Kitchen)
I am very happy with this grinder. I have a history with grinders and progressively have improved my home coffee. I will start with my experience with standard blade style grinders. It was mainly the luck of the draw with these. The grind was always inconsistent and uneven even within the same batch. Next I graduated to my first burr type grinder. The Krupp's. This gave me a more consistent grind and instantly led me to realize the importance of the grind when investing in home coffee. This grinder's yield was even but it was a bit noisy (not a big concern for me), the beans did not always flow down into the burr without a shake, and the range from course to fine was not wide enough for the different applications; these issues prompted me to look for something better. I read reviews and comparisons and settled in on this particular Capresso product. The weight of the metal version is worth the extra cost to minimize vibration and noise and add sturdiness. This was a large step up as it uses a conical style burr that pulls the beans into the burr and has a more direct draw into the receiving cup. This also serves to keep it from clogging and keeps it cleaner for longer as the coffee flows largely with gravity. The adjustments are true and even more consistent than the flat burr grinders. I could have paid more or less but I am convinced that I could not have gotten a better grinder. And the lesser models basically were wasting my coffee. One bad thing, the receiving cup tends to move out of place when running and could have been made to lock in place but buckling a cloth in front of it is enough resistance to keep it in place. Or you may need to hold it in place.

Very good burr grinder...except for the instructions. I bought 3 and I spent quite a few hours trying to put the coffee container in the grinder and tried and tried and tried...till I broke it! Of course I read the instructions but nevertheless never fitted. Next day I called Customer Service and the lady explained that there was an opening that had to be certain way, and voila! The container got in like magic! But they never mentioned this small detail in the instructions. So now I have to buy a new coffee container. Other than that, it works perfectly.

Nice machine,

This review is from: Capresso 565.03 Infinity Burr Grinder, Polished Chrome (Kitchen)
I bought this one because several reviews said it was a good reliable grinder. I got it a few days ago and it's very well built. It grinds fantastically. I'm not sure what grinders some people have used to compare the sound to but, this one is LOUD. Understandable for a grinder, but don't believe any quiet nonsense. As for improvements, well, the hopper could use a closing feature, maybe a larger hopper/catch container, and a momentary button for quick grinding would be nice. I chose this with a budget in mind over a mazer. I know its like comparing an Eclipse to a Cadillac, its also smaller, easier to use, and 1/6th the price. I think I made a good choice and for most people I think this would be a great buy.
=========== UPDATE =============== 2+ years 2-3 pots a day 7/52 and still working great! I have read about this being messy. I haven't found that to be the case but the plate to hold the catch container does collect some errant grinds. As for the plastic being fragile aside from the knob I broke and glued successfully, I have not seen that either. One more issue is the static, a common problem in grinders not just this one. There are static discharge devices that will take care of this or mix a small amount of the same blend of decaf beans into your grind and that will eliminate the static without changing your favorite blends taste.
