5.0 out of 5 stars Outstanding grinder
I've had this grinder about 6 months; it's my latest and, I think destined to be the last, to come of a 2 year hunt for a good grinder. It's more expensive than I would like. I've had this grinder about 6 months; it's my latest and, I think destined to be the last, to come of a 2 year hunt for a good grinder. It's more expensive than I would like. But, it has worked flawlessly. In comparison with other burr grinders (I've had a Krups and a cheaper Capresso) this one uses metal blades instead of plastic and produces a very clean, uniform grind. You don't get powdery residue, just a nice grain of what ever fineness you dial up. It has a wide range. The finest grind is super fine, a powder, and the coarsest is a large (but again, uniform) grain. The powder is great for expresso, the coarse grain is great for a press pot, and you can get a grind exactly your liking for filters. I've not had to clean it much (once, maybe twice, and I'm a twice a day or more grinder) and when I did it was straightforward, not too messy. The only trivial thing I'd complain about with this one is that the curvature of the coffee bean reservoir lid somehow creates an illusion that the top is off. This can lead to you pour coffee beans onto the closed lid (hence onto your kitchen counter). But, do that once or twice and you'll learn to look close. Otherwise an outstanding grinder.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fabulous grinder!, January 4, 2011

Wow! I recently replaced my 40-year old Braun flat burr grinder with the Capresso conical grinder. What a difference! Although the Braun certainly didn't owe me anything, it sounded like a jet plane compared to the Capresso. Also I now realize what a difference the size of the grind makes. The Capresso grinds my coffee beans exactly right for my drip coffee pot. It produces a nice, even grind, so my coffee is more aromatic and robust, and I get the full benefit of using whole coffee beans.

The Capresso produces very little static, so it is very easy to pour the ground coffee into the pot. It is also very easy to clean.

I paid the extra money to get the heavier stainless steel body, so the machine is very stable. I'm very happy with my purchase and hope that this is the last grinder that I'll have to buy.

1.0 out of 5 stars Good Grinder - Terrible Customer Support, July 7, 2010

This is a good grinder and does a great job, until the burrs dull, then you're out of luck.

We have had a Capresso conical burr grinder and have been very happy with the way it grinds. Recently though the grind quality has suffered and after removing, cleaning and inspecting the burrs, it is apparent that the burrs have dulled and do not grind as well as they should. I contacted Capresso via email to purchase a replacement burr SET and was told they only sell the upper burr ring, not both burrs as a set. They consider the lower burr an "internal part" and refuse to sell it.

I contacted Capresso via phone and was told they would happily sell me the upper burr for $16, but no luck on the lower burr, which is the one that I looked at to determine it was dull.

In short I was told I would have to buy a new grinder because the lower burr, that is held in place by one screw, is considered an "internal part" and they do not sell "internal parts". This is ridiculous!!!

Warning!!!!!! Unless you consider a $140 grinder disposable, DO NOT BUY THIS GRINDER!!!!!

This applies to ALL of Capresso's conical burr grinders, not just this one.

Purchase at your own risk!

I bought this grinder when the Starbucks grinder quit working after only a few grinds. I've got no complaints about this one. It takes up little space, looks good, holds a substantial amount of beans, grinds on demand consistently, catches the ground coffee with no mess, and the dispenser fits tightly and it's easy to transfer the coffee to the filter. I've used it every Saturday and Sunday for over a year with no problem.

1.0 out of 5 stars CAVEAT EMPTOR! Grinder Problems!, October 30, 2011
This review is from: Capresso 565.05 Infinity Burr Grinder, Stainless Steel
No review of this grinder is complete without mentioning the fact that when removing the grind cup, the static electrical charge created by this model causes coffee grinds to fly out of the cup on the surface it is on, which necessitates cleaning up grinds EVERY time you remove the cup. I highly recommend you do NOT purchase this grinder until the manufacturer has corrected this design flaw. NOTE that some review say it has been corrected...I just purchased a brand new model and the problem has NOT been corrected!

The first thing I ave to say is that it is very solid! I wanted the stainless look, then upon some research, found this metal cased one. You pay a bit more than you would for the plated plastic version, but as some others have mentioned, it stays put on the counter when in operation.
Cleaning: yeah, not the most fun job but kinda comes with the territory. The brush could be a bit better but what can you do.
Overall, we are very happy with it. My wife just has to give birth, then she can enjoy the awesome coffee that I am now.

4.0 out of 5 stars Use it daily, September 11, 2011
This review is from: Capresso 565.05 Infinity Burr Grinder, Stainless Steel
I've had the Capresso 565 burr grinder for about a year and I use it every morning. I've had no problems and at the coarsest setting it makes great french press coffee. I wish it would go just a tad coarser, but that's a minor quibble.

Construction quality - The unit itself seems tough. The clear plastic parts have held up well, but I only hand wash and I'm very careful not to drop them. I'm not sure if replacement parts are available.

Noise level - Similar to an electric mixer.

Cleaning - That's the main annoyance. I'd recommend after the coffee has ground, leave it running and tilt the unit right & left and shake or bump it a couple of times to get as much of the grounds as possible through the chute. Then use a 1" natrual bristle brush on the parts inside the grinder to sweep as much of what's left as possible into the chute. Every week or two remove the removable parts turn it upside down over the sink and give it a good sweepout with the bruch. That will minimize any of yesterday's grind getting into today's coffee. This finicky approach adds a few minutes to the process, but it's a worthwhile trade for daily burr ground coffee.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good, but not excellent, April 8, 2010

I bought this because I thought it would grind coffee beans uniformly coarse for my french press. After trying beans ground with it and my regular drip grind, I found no difference in sediment. Since I can buy good coffe already ground, I have put this grinder in my cupboard against the day that I may find good affordable whole beans. Well, I can dream can't I?
