This filter works as expected...It has all the benefits of a coffee filter without the downfalls of paper. Earlier reviewer unfairly rated this item without noticing the fact that the coffee maker they were trying to use it in clearly states that it uses a #3 cone filter. Obviously this #4 cone filter won't fit into a model that uses a smaller size. User ignorance should have no bearing on the rating of this item.

The filter is great for most grinds of coffee. I do grind mine a little more fine than most and unfortunately I do wind up with a minor amount of "mud" at the bottom of my cup. If you grind your own coffee stick with a more course grind and this filter is excellent!

This filter works quite well and produces a smashing pot of coffee. It is a bit tiresome cleaning it after every use compared to chucking the paper filter and grounds in the garbage. The taste, however, is so much better that I don't think I'll ever use paper again.

The GoldTone Filter is easy to use, easy to clean, and easy to appreciate. Not only is the filter easily cleaned--only a few sprays from the faucet cleans the grinds from the filter itself--but the filter allows for a smooth taste without losing any boldness or distinctness due to over-filtering.

A great product for low price. No disappointments here.

My husband and I bought our Capresso coffee maker in 1996, have used it at least once a day for those 15 years - and the gold filter finally was showing its age. In the market for a new one, we purchased this one. It fits the old machine just perfectly, cleans beautifully, is always there (unlike paper ones) - and will probably last another 15 years - pretty good price for filters - a little over $1 a year. A quality product and really good buy.

Coffee tastes great with this gold filter and I have no serious complaints. The bottom seams(where the mesh connects to the frame)eventually give out and separate from the frame after about a year of daily use and gentle washing. This then allows grains to exit and sometimes clog the hole from which the water exits, causing the filter area to overflow on occasion. Otherwise, I think it works very well.

I have the capprisso coffee maker that has the bean grinder built in, I purchased a new one of these because I ruined the first one. I descailed the coffee maker with the first one left inside it. I didn't realize it would remove the gold coating, thus allowing it to not do the proper removal of larger pieces. I love my cappresso machine. This can go into the dishwasher top rack, just do not leave it in the maker while doing the descailing process. Now I am Happy once again.

The main reason I purchased this filter is to stop throwing out 365 paper coffee filters a year. The filter is sturdy and fits well in our 4 cone coffee maker. The only thing is that it can be a little annoying to clean out well - some coffee grounds inevitably end up in the sink. Still, a small price to pay for a filter that isn't filling up a landfill.

Supposedly the paper #4 filters retain a lot of flavor and goodness. Well, cannot tell the difference at all between this $17.00 filter and the paper filters.

Of course, maybe I don't even know how to make coffee.

I ordered an extra GoldTone Filter for convenience. We bought a new coffeepot that recommended the gold filters. After making a few pots, I discerned that a pool of muddy coffee remained in the bottom of every cup and also in the carafe. The coffee itself was okay, but not great. I tried a paper filter, and the coffee was wonderfu,l and there was no muddy residue left in the cups and carafe. I'm for paper filters!

The gold filter was well made and etc., but I think paper filters work better.
