Product Description

Amazon.com Review

Gorgeous as it is to behold, this Art Deco waffle maker's best feature is under the clamshell-shaped, chrome lid: reversible plates that create both Belgian and "five of hearts" waffles. The former hold lots of melted butter, syrup, and fruit. The latter display five heart-shaped sections fanning out from the center. In either case, the waffles benefit from the patented plates, which contain embedded heating elements that ensure even heat distribution for uniform browning. The plates are nonstick so they release waffles in one piece. They're removable and fully immersible for scrubbing in the sink, and they're also dishwasher-safe. Though it produces 7-inch-diameter waffles, the compact waffle maker measures only 8 inches wide and 11-1/2 inches front to back. For upright, space-saving storage a clip locks the handles together. The waffle maker carries a one-year warranty against defects. --Fred Brack

5.0 out of 5 stars Possibly the best waffle iron out there--Ingenius!, November 14, 2002

My old waffle iron broke down about 4 months ago, & I had spent that much time searching, searching, for the perfect waffle iron. I found it! First, you've gotta love the gorgeous looks of the stainless steel exterior. Second, I've always preferred the deep, Belgian-style pockets, especially in a round shape, which this iron has, but what a bonus!!!--reversible plates to give you the extra-special heart-shaped waffles. And because the plates are reversible, they are REMOVABLE, so you can actually immerse them to wash them, & even put them in the dishwasher! That is such a fabulous feature. Finally, I am just thrilled with the results--the waffles themselves are light & crispy, SUPER-EVENLY cooked, simply perfect. They cook quickly, in about 3 minutes, & do not stick at all (even when I overflowed the batter.) In short, I cannot say enough good things about this iron, & there is no reason to buy another kind.

5.0 out of 5 stars Cleverly designed and well made, December 28, 2002

I got this waffle maker for Christmas and we have used it several times since then. It works easily and the waffles come out beautifully. This is the first time our household has ever used one and still the waffles come out just right. The price is a little higher than for other waffle makers, but this one is attractive enough to display on the counter-top and it has removable plates that are easy to wash. A final cool thing is that it makes heart waffles or Belgian, and both look great (and taste great too using the recipe in the waffler instruction booklet). Highly recommend it. And wait until you smell how good homemade waffles are in the morning!

2.0 out of 5 stars This waffle iron falls apart, May 14, 2003

Boy was I delighted for a couple of months with this waffle iron. But as time passed, the temperature knob fell off. I was able to push it back in place and it worked for a while, but then the indicator light no longer worked and now I can't even get the iron to heat up. What a really big disappointment and it sure ain't inexpensive. I am about to buy a new iron for 19.99. This is what I should have done in the first place.
