Editorial Reviews

From the Author

Capri is like Venise Piazza San Marco...beautiful, history everywhere, special atmosphere inherited from so many love stories....but you will hate the thousands daily tours spoiling the island. So, you have to rent a boat and spend your days at sea, beholding the island from the sea, discovering the treasures of so many grottoes. And at the end of the day, back to the island , all the tours gone, you will love Capri with the happy fews that stay at night on the island. This book will give you the keys to enjoy the island!

About the Author

Patrick Howlett-Martin is a journalist, writer and diplomat and, above all, an enthusiast of the sea and a deep diver. His love for Italy and his interest in ancient Rome led him naturally to Capri, where he has stayed every year, dividing his time between exploring the island's grottos and underwater caves.

A more appropriate title for this book would be "Capri from the Sea", as it is an outgrowth of what was planned as a diving guide to the waters around Capri. There are lots of photographs of various underwater grottoes as well as of various parts of Capri's shoreline. There are also many pictures of works of art relating to same.

This book is not what I expected it to be, but it made a great "friendship" gift to a friend whose background is Italian and who has taken up diving. She says it is wonderful.
