"Capsize Recoveries & Rescue Procedures" are Volumes 1 & 2 of the University of Sea Kayaking IN DEPTH instructional video series. Knowing capsizes are part of sea kayaking and emergencies do occur we decided to start our series with skills and information that would help keep you kayaking for many years to come and add pleasure to your paddling career.

As a kayaker you will feel more confident if you know: how to deal with capsizes, how to get your partner or yourself back into your boats, how to dress for immersion, the causes and prevention of exposure and how to deal with emergencies. More importantly we focused on teaching the necessary skills to minimize the likelihood of emergencies occurring. Our experience has taught us that most emergencies are a result of lack of education and poor skills.

You would need to take a two or three day clinic to learn the same skills and information presented in this comprehensive video set. The information provided in these videos is so interconnected we could not sell them separately. Therefore, we combined the set and offered them at an incredible price for the four plus hours of information (normally a one hour instructional video sells for $29.95).

At USK we believe you cannot afford to be without this information if you are serious about sea kayaking. Get a set for your library and one for the paddling partner you want to save you.

The USK has put out a fabulous 2 dvd set on rescues and recoveries. The material is well thought out and organized, I would find it suitable for a novice or an advanced paddler. Wayne Horodowich is a very knowledgable instructor, he expalains all elements in a very clear and concise manner (he also like to add humor into the mix).

The recovery dvd teaches many techniques (both solo and group) for recovering after a capsize, and several methods for ridding the kayak of water. Many options are covered from paddle floats, rolls, scramble recoveries, and back up rolling aids.

The Rescue DVD covers everything from exposure, seasickness, signaling, towing, calling for help etc...

If you are a sea kayaker or are thinking of becoming one, this dvd is for you.
