The USK has put out a fabulous 2 dvd set on rescues and recoveries. The material is well thought out and organized, I would find it suitable for a novice or an advanced paddler. Wayne Horodowich is a very knowledgable instructor, he expalains all elements in a very clear and concise manner (he also like to add humor into the mix).
The recovery dvd teaches many techniques (both solo and group) for recovering after a capsize, and several methods for ridding the kayak of water. Many options are covered from paddle floats, rolls, scramble recoveries, and back up rolling aids. The Rescue DVD covers everything from exposure, seasickness, signaling, towing, calling for help etc... If you are a sea kayaker or are thinking of becoming one, this dvd is for you. |
