The Capsul'in Capsules for Nespresso brewers allows you to fill your own Nespresso capsules. Fill them with your favorite. Capsul'in is the first empty Nespresso compatible capsule that works in the full line of Nespresso machines. The Capsul'in design also features a raised ridge on the base of the capsule, making it work well with the newest and currently most popular machines that Nespresso has to offer. This is my homemade video review of Capsul'in Pods for Nespresso machines. After trying other brands, I finally stumbled upon Capsul'in, the only product that has actually worked consistently with each and every single pod; plus, these won't get stuck in your automated machine (I use it with my U50 machine), unlike other brands. The great thing about buying your own disposable (yes, these are designed to be disposed of after each use) pods is that you get to choose your own coffee, and save some cash while you're at it. Enjoy!!

I've used these for about a month now and I can say they work OK. Here are the pluses and minuses:

Pluses:
1. About half the price of Nespresso capsules
2. You can use the coffee you choose
3. The taste is good
4. Good crema

Minuses:
1. It took some experimenting with grind, coffee and compaction to get it to work well
2. Sometimes the coffee flow would stop
3. There seems to be less coffee in Capsul'in Capsules than Nespresso's
4. It takes time to fill the capsules
5. Often the capsules get stuck in the Nespresso machine (not a big deal to remove them)

I've been experimenting with the best coffee, grind and compaction. I'm not sure if I have it perfected yet, but here is what I do:

I grind the coffee a little coarser than normal expresso grind. I then fill each capsule with coffee and tap it several times on the side with a knife. That will let the coffee settle into the capsule. I then scrape the excess coffee off the top of the capsule so the coffee is flush with the top of the capsule. Then I use the plastic tool supplied with the Capsul'in capsules to compact the coffee. I put the foil lid on and I'm done. Pretty easy to do, but it does take a bit of time to do a dozen capsules or so for the week.

I tried the Duck Caps....nearly broke my machine...found a company that sells capsules for $.50/ cap...not a large enough break on price. And I want to use a coffee of my choice. Nespresso caps are delicious and perfect, but I know Nestle doesn't give a fig for fair trade and organic products, and I would never entrust them with my business even if they claimed they did.
So it's a little labor intensive, but no big deal, that I can pack these little babies with the coffee of my choice ( La Colombe Torrefaction) and make a really delicious cup , espresso, cappucino, americano....it's consistent, with a lovely crema. The only thing I do to ensure the flavor is make sure it's a short shot.I don't pop the capsule into the holder...with only one tool I'd rather use a spoon to pack and use the little tool to pack and fill a bit more. The adhesive is great- right now I am not packing more than 20 at a time in case the adhesive for the rims don't hold up long enough.

I wanted to review these capsules because I am incredibly pleased with them.

like everyone elses I wanted an alternative to nespresso capsules. I had 2 reasons:

1. Save money. Obvious as we all know the nespress capsules are pricey.
2. More variety. I have a confession. Most of the nepresso flavors I am not fond of. I like strong coffee so anything less than 7 I have not liked. My current faves are Napoli and Dharkan. Napoli was a limited edition from spring 2013 and I have been buying them up. I also like Trieste and sometimes Roma and arpeggio. Also their decaf intenso is surprisingly good and is what my wife drinks. So I wanted to be able to make my own that reflected my taste and try some of the different blends of fresh roasted coffee I can get in San Francisco

I read all the reviews of the various reusable caps on the market. Most were dismal. However this single use one seemed to work for most people. So I purchased these and the my kap reusable ones with the snap on top.

From the first espresso I pulled it was a success. The coffe produced tasted good and had nice crema. I have since developed the following process to fill the capsules.

ESPRESSO GRIND AND ROAST. I use a breville smart grinder 3 ticks from the finest. I buy the darkest roast. I have also used lavarro espresso with good results.

I fill each capsule about 3/4. I don't compress the coffee but tap the bottom of the capsule on the counter to settle the coffee. I do this three times. The coffee should sit just below the rim. I find on my weight watchers scale about 6 grams is what I aim for but the scale doesn't do fractions of a gram so that is an estimate.

Clean off the rim so it has no grinds and seal.

After reading various reviews, I was skeptical to no end about this product. It took me months after actually buying it before I even got the nerve to try the do it yourself capsules out. I only bought this product because I refused to pay up to $29 for 10 capsules to get the novelty flavors that are now sold out, as well as I found only a few of the coffees strong enough for my liking.
First, it is no where near as hard to do as some write - I don't understand their negativity. I filled 80 with 8 different varieties of coffee and it took about 45 mins because I was initially timid about the whole thing. Second, the grind of the coffee and the exact amount in each capsule aren't as big an issue as some write unless you are ridiculously picky about your coffee, in which case - stick to Nespresso club orders online.
I went to a gourmet coffee shop and got chocolate, red velvet, tiramisu, cranberry vanilla cream, coconut, macadamia, and my favorite espresso, Illy from Italy. I had all flavors ground to espresso grind but a couple seemed choppy so I used a mini grinder here to get them finer. I mixed a small amount of Illy espresso into each flavor batch because I like my lattes to have a bit more strength - lol.
Then I got my small espresso spoons, spooned coffee into the capsules and packed it down very well. You know it's well packed if the capsule falls over and nothing spills out!! There is a small packing spoon within the package to press coffee into the capsule but I found it was better to fill the capsule to the very top and pack then with the spoon because that creates the same look at Nespresso capsules when it comes time for the machine to perforate.
