Product Description

The popular arcade game CAPTAIN AMERICA AND THE AVENGERS has come crashing onto the SNES. Red Skull is using his mind-control device to lead the forces of evil against all that is good, with the intention of taking over the universe. It's up to you as one of four superheroes Captain America, Iron Man, Hawkeye, or Vision to take on Red Skull's minions and keep the world safe. Through five levels of mind-blowing action, you'll fight the good fight, collect power-ups, and do whatever it takes to keep the villains down. There's also a two-player option that lets you go head-to-head against a friend.

2.0 out of 5 stars A terrible port of an AWESOME and popular arcade game, August 16, 2010

= Fun:2.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Captain America (Video Game)
For those of you who had fond memories of the classic arcade game, Captain America and the Avengers, STEER clear of this port that came out for the SNES during its heyday. This was doomed from the get go.

First off, the game was made by Mindscape (who did not have a great track record when it came to video games) and not by Data East, the original developer of the arcade game. Second, the graphics and music were downgraded significantly to accommodate the low ROM space of the SNES cartridge, which ended not looking or sounding great. Lastly, the controls were so rigged and stiff that moving around and fighting your enemies were extremely limited.
As a twist of irony, this was later released for the Genesis by Data East, with graphics, sounds, controls and difficulty mirroring the arcade version.

My best friend picked this up and I played it several times trying to get myself to enjoy this game but I didn't. Get the Genesis version or track down the ROM to play this on an emulator because the SNES version was butchered beyond relief. Save your money and don't buy it!!

5.0 out of 5 stars a classic hero, August 23, 2007
A Kid's Review
= Fun:4.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Captain America (Video Game)
I first saw the original captain America movie back in about 5th grade it was phonoimial. Here are some strategies and boss defense and attack statisthat you can used for the bosses starting in the second stage with cheat or with out cheats if your playing this on easy mode and have practiced a decent amount. The next boss is likea giant sentimetal staypuff marshmelllow man like height like they origina were from X man cartoon and comics before they shronk them down to about maybe 6 to 9 feet in hight like in marvel versus capcon 2 or about maybe maybe about 30% taller than juggernaut. depsite his bossed third percent resitance to damge you can take him down quickly in a bout 2 to four minutes because your hover crafts shot up to three to four shiedl out of a time in a matter of about 1/10 of a second a machine gun fast speed. Since he seldom block his face with his hand his health will go down quickly he will take about and he will lose about 3.03 of his health for evr unblock hit of the shield projectiles that hit his face. Next you must fight a foe of the vengers known as the reaper. He has at 15% resitance to shield attack either by literall thorw the shield or punchinh him with with the shield in it. Hit him 15 times with this attack and you will cause 6.6% damage each tim you hit or punch himsuccessfull when he come with in the strike attack range. I will send more stats later I have to go get ready for dinner.

I first saw the original captain America movie back in betwen 5th and 11th grade I thought I was decently shot. Here are some strategies and boss defense and attack statisic that you can be used for the bosses starting from the begining with cheat or with out cheats if your playing this on easy mode and have practiced a decent amount. The next boss is likea giant sentinetal staypuff marshmelllow maan size robot like they original were from X man cartoon and comic series, before they were shronk them down to about maybe 6 to 12 feet in hight like in marvel versus capcon 2 or about maybe maybe about 30% taller than juggernaut. Depsite his height boss has a high damage resitanc percent of about 30% you can take him down quickly in a bout 2 to four minutes because your hover crafts shot up to three to four shiedl out of a time ata super fast machine gun lik speed. Since this giant robot seldom block his face with his hand his health will go down quickly. It will lose about 3.03 of his health for every unblock hit of the shield projectiles that hit his face. Next you must fight a foe of the avengers known as the reaper. He has about a 15% dame resitance to shield attack either by literall throwing the shield or punchinh him with hand that's holding it. Hit him 15 times with this attack successfull when he come with in the strike attack range and he goes down. The next boss fight the wizard with and ll percent resitance to punch and kick attacks you can take thisa guy down quickloy ar a lose of 9.09% of his health if you memorize his attack pattern well enough if playing with no cheats activated. Use the same technique used of the sentimetal like boss and this squid robot wil go down with about 30 shiled blasst attack of about 3% lose of vital per hit. You next fight mandrane who has at 28% resitance against against shield throw attack punches and kickes and a throw or two occasional. To decrease damage resitance use throws more often to do double or triplle the damage per attack a normal kick or shield throw act. This might increase lose boss vitral from about ameasly 3.5 to 9% percent damage pere succesfull performed attack move to about maybe 3.5 to 20% damage per move when performed correctly at close enough range. The next boss is called Juggernaut. He has about and 18% resitance to the shield throw and normal punch kick attack cuasing a maxium of 5.5% lose of vital per hit to double the lose of vital try to do throws because in early games like king of the monster 2 the throw attacks tended to do more damage than normal punch and kick attacks. The next bosds Ultratrons is the toughest boss in the game stamina wise having a 48% damage resistanc to puucn kich and the shiled throw attack. These attack probably do very small amount of damage maybe a little more than 2 percent vital lose each time sucessfull performed and he has and beam like weapon similar to that of iron man. So you so you should probaly body throw and slammed technqiues to speed up the battles. Cross bone has a 25% defense resitance against normal hits to cut that in half tru to used the up close throw slash body slamm attacks to no more damage per move. For the red skull first partof fight he has a 13% resitance. So about thirteen blows our about 3 to 7 body slams throw will do him in. After this you face the final boss one more final robot. You justed beat the metal skull the boss with the highest stamina of 65% against normal attacks that means your blow take a super pathetic amount of 1.5% vital per hit. this boss has porjectile weapon create tornado projectiles and has a barrier of elctric around him you can still hit up close with no cheats on. But this may mutilate your health bar if you don't have infinite halth or contiunues on so attacking from a far away distance with your shield throw may be the easy ways to defeat this boss since the elctric barrier is around him very frequetly. Defeat this boss you have save the world from the red school and now hit tail it out of there as the bases collapses.
