I think that this is good film despite the fact that it totaly different from the comic i do however like ALL marvel comic movies....i'm too young to have oringaly seen them on TV but i enjoy as a hobby collecting all live action comic movies...i have all the batmans all supermans both flash movies all the incredable hulk movies all the spiderman movies including the live action series i just ordered captain america and captain america 2:death too soon and dr strange. i do however like the 92 captain america better which ihave as well but i think that all the comic movies are fair or better i even taped Generation X and Nick Fury: agent of S.H.I.E.L.D so i would say that despite this is cheesy......it is STILL fun movie and great to watch if you want to just relax and watch an old comic movie

2.0 out of 5 stars Cheesy fun, December 29, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Captain America [VHS] (VHS Tape)
First off, let me say that I am a huge comic book fan. For that reason, I really DID enjoy this movie. But, it is safe to say that anybody who is not a diehard fan would definetely hate it. The origin of Captain America is different in this movie than in the comics. Also, Captain America doesn't even change into his Captain America costume until the last 15 minutes. Here are the facts: The bad guys in the movie are generic, the actors are really bad, and the movie is very low budget. BUT, it is kinda just fun seeing live action super hero stuff so if you can just relax and have a little fun, it will be enjoyable. Perhaps not long-term enjoyment, but the movie is good for at least few watches. I hope this helped.

After, Incredible Hulk, Amazing Spider-man and Doctor Strange, Captain America got his pilot movie. This version his very different from the comic book character. Steve Rogers is an ex-US marine. Instead of being the real Captain america, Steve Rogers is the son of Captain Who has been killed by gansters. After an accident, he was inject with a Super-steroid called "FLAG"(Full latent ability gain). Also, the first costume is very different from the comic-book. Intead of a cowl, he has a helmet and the wings are painted on it and his shield is transparent.Although this is different from the comic, Comic-books fan should see this movie.

4.0 out of 5 stars An okay film, August 21, 2001

This was a funny, comic book like film. Reminded me of Batman tv series, lead actor, good, I've seen him in other films and maybe a series or two on tv. He fit the role i.e. athletic build, looked good in tights, etc. All in all not bad especially if you like tongue in cheek type films.

4.0 out of 5 stars Captain America...., February 23, 2003

This video is based on the TV series of Captain america that originally aired on CBS(if I remember correctly) which stars Reb Brown as the Captain. Although, it has very little to do with the comic book(the 1989 movie had alot more to do with it,really)- it is still an entertaining movie worth getting and checking out. Just for a walk down memory lane. It's pretty awesome to watch. I highly recommend it to all.

1.0 out of 5 stars Watch only if your desperate, July 8, 1999

This isn't the greatest film. I'd watch this film only if your desperate. There's alot missing in the story to make this into a good film. It really doesn't follow the actual comic origon closly. The only resemblence to the character is the name of Steve Rogers, a super serum being injected into him, a red, white, & blue suit, but that's it! Only get this if you're a die hard comic collector.

3.0 out of 5 stars Captain America, March 21, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Captain America [VHS] (VHS Tape)
Well this made for tv movie is better than the 90's Captain America movie that was never released featuring Matt Slinger. This one at least shows the hero in costume for more than 10mins
like the 90's version did. Cap to gets a cool montor bike to ride around. The acting is decent as well. This tv movie is up there with such other tv series movies as Spiderman 70's live action series, Incredible Hulk live action series, Dr. Strange tv movie, Generation X tv movie and Nick Fury Agent of Shield tv movie. If your a fan of Captain America or of superheros check this tv movie out.

It may be a little cheesy but this one is still much more fun and entertaining than the pitiful straight to video motion picture that was made. Besides this one comes from the late 70s when action films were more fun. I recommend it if you liked the Spider Man movies and the Incredible Hulk television series.
